Not sure how Wilson isn't an option. Nobody really thought Cam was a legit candidate until he started putting up those monster stat-lines 5 weeks ago when they were already 9-0 to bring his totals up. Granted Atlanta was still in the picture at that point, but it's not like Carolina needed to put up wins as much as Seattle did over the course of the last 5, when both started putting up monster numbers.
Last 5 weeks

Russell Wilson: 110/148 (74.3%), 1,420 yards, 19 TD, 0 INT, 143.6 Passer Rating, 28 rushes, 147 yards, 1 TD, 0 FUM Lost
Overall
Cam Newton: 258/439 (58.8%), 3,402 yards, 33 TD, 10 INT, 98.9 Passer Rating, 119 rushes, 580 yards, 7 TD, 3 FUM Lost
Russell Wilson: 285/414 (68.8%), 3,538 yards, 29 TD, 7 INT, 111.4 Passer rating, 92 rushes, 502 yards, 1 TD, 2 FUM Lost
They're extremely comparable statistically both overall (with Newton having the big rushing TD advantage, and Wilson being much more efficient as a passer) and in the last 5 weeks (which is what vaulted both to MVP-caliber statistically).
Difference is that Wilson had his back up against the wall in those games, and is the main reason Seattle is going to enter the playoffs as a favorite.
All that being said, I actually like Palmer due to consistency. Brady would be my runner-up.
