If you combine his passing and rushing yards he's still closer to Alex Smith than Brady/Palmer. You are also underselling the entire team. Until his injury Stewart was racking up tons of yards for that team (he was top 3 in the NFL I believe). You also have to factor in the Panthers laughably easy schedule this season too. The fact is Newton did have a career season, however there are still at least 3-4 QBs who definitively had better seasons. That doesn't even touch clearly superior players at other positions such as AP or Antonio Brown. The fact of the matter is Newton would be one of the weakest MVP winners ever and if his team didn't start 14-0 nobody would even think of mentioning him as an MVP.

that's kind of misleading.

first of all cam being the threat to run that he is, makes a big impact whether he runs or not. second the guy can excel from the pocket and make all the throws. the touchdowns are key, and all the big plays are key, late in games he has been fantastic, and again this is without any major offensive weapons

i am not a panthers fan, i have watched their games, cam is without a doubt a deserving MVP, his impact is beyond the stats.

Newton went far enough ahead to call him the winner in my mind when he carried his team against the Saints and then the Giants a couple weeks later after the defense sprung a leak.

Sure, those defenses weren't good by any stretch, but he still had to play nearly perfect to make sure they closed the deal since his defense couldn't stop a peewee player. Around the same time, the Pats start to sputter because all of Brady's targets are out. The big deal here is Brady suffered without his top guys, while Newton was largely producing near the same level with questionable WR depth. Before the injuries it was fairly even. Newton took control after that.

I think it's absurd that Palmer isn't getting more love here (and in general). His consistency has been remarkable, and Arizona may even finish ahead of Carolina this year. If you start delving into the advanced passing statistics, Palmer actually comes out quite far ahead of every QB in the league, and that's running a difficult vertical offense.

Lets not forget his top defence that features the best LB in the league and DPOY candidate. Or the fact that they've beaten maybe two teams over .500 (at the time of the win). Or the joke of a division they play in.

I completely agree. He has been by far the best QB in the league this year. Palmer has been incredibly accurate on deep throws.

Hes literally been amazing his entire stint in Arizona, just sucks he was injured last season (6-1 pre injury).

They literally have the highest scoring offense in the NFL. Also they had the most wins and the best winning percentage against teams +.500. Also the division has one of the best records against teams outside of it. But you know, facts.

Kirk Cousins ;)

Obviously kidding

He probably deserves to be in the vote over Big Ben (due to missing switch injuries) and Rodgers (down year).

Who had the Redskins winning more than 4 games this year once they named Cousins the starter over RG3?

NFC South
NFC East
AFC South
NFC North a lot of people will tell you contains zero actual good teams

That's half the league at least that kinda sucks. Before even thinking about the crappy teams in the "good" divisions. Panthers can't be the only beneficiary here.

You know the Panthers played 14 games against the first 3 divisions you listed, right?

And this means what exactly about Cam Newton's personal performance? He somehow becomes a better player if Kuechly gets injured and the Saints win some games?

I mean for god's sake, the man was top-10 in both rushing TDs and passer rating. Tell me what else he has to do.

Huh, that's interesting. Palmer and Cam finish with the same amount of passing TDs, with Cam having thrown one fewer interception. Palmer has him on yards, but Cam closes the gap significantly when factoring in rushing. When you consider ground TDs, it's not even close.

It's Cam.

It was Brady up until a few weeks ago, but the overall lackluster play of the team cost him. If Edelman doesn't get hurt I think Brady would've run away with it.
