Leafs are as much in cap hell as the Flyers.

Let's do a 5.5M offer sheet to Kadri.
Leafs will match.

Then do a 3M offer sheet to Franson.
Leafs will match and have no SCap left with Gunnarson and Fraser to sign.

Then we can sign Fraser at 1.5M.

1.5 for Fraser... He'll accept that and the Leafs would probably pay for his plane ticket to Montreal.

Kadri ad Franson probably get around 3.5 each. Gunnarsson will take a 1 year deal at probably 2 mill.

Either way, they probably won't have a spot for Fraser and will let him walk.

Gunnarsson
Phaneuf
Franson
Gardiner

And then
Liles, Holzer, Brennan (I believe he got a 1 way) fill out the rest.

Looking at cap geek it seems the Leafs retained salary in both Scrivens and Frattin. 500k worth.

In Eklund Wet dreams :

MTL : Vanek Miller
Edmonton : Price Diaz Stafford
Buffalo : Montreal and Edmonton 2nd 2014, McCarron, Yakupov, Gionta
Not sure I would trade Miller for Price.
Can not see MB trading McCarron now.

And MB clearly said that he wants Price to develop.
He just hired a new goalie coach.

Can not see MB undo what he just did.

So we give up Price, Diaz, McCarron and a second for Vanek and miller?

Two things. Cap space? And I wouldn't trade just price for those two let alone adding in a bunch of valuable assets.

So in this "rumoured" trade we trade our goalie and a decent prospect for two guys who walk next summer? Sounds brilliant, fits right in with "building through the draft" motto that our GM has preached since arriving.

Price isn't being traded, geeze people.

New goalie coach, new contract and besides a bit at the end he was fine last year with endless room to grow.

Let's not forget some people wanted to trade Subban before the season because he wanted too much money or blah blah blah. Hopefully when Price gets his Vezina people will lay off him.

There's a difference between lazyness and not having that second gear. Don't think you can call these people lazy.
That's your opinion and while I respect it, I disagree. Not giving a second effort or taking shifts/nights off is, for me, laziness. The pay cheques come every game...

Bounce back?

Always lost most of his battle one on one....from day one
Never had an NHL shot...so he won't get one even if he "bounce back"
Never been good defensively, so he won't even if he "bounce back"
Still won't be able to push, hit, intimidate, go throught any players.
Still won't have the necessary speed useful to every single small playesr in the NHL
Still gonna be the 233th smaller center in the NHL (out of 234)

Most poeple think that if he get a couple of points more, he will be a good player.

But never forget, his spot (centering the offensive line with less defensive duties) is the one for Galchenyuk!! That will never change!!

Out of curiosity can u tell who is the 234th?

If you rebuild, they will come.

sigh.. the amount of "MTL" on that list is like ugh... upsetting.

True though 4 out of 5 do play physical enough. And I'm counting Gionta in that list. Even if there are limits to what a body can do, we can't say that they are small AND non-physical. Gallagher, Dumont, Bouillon and Gionta are doing the job. The problem is...is it still too many based on what I mentioned...as far as limitations are concerned. One thing though....Bouillon is closer to the door...so is Gionta and Dumont still haven't made it officially yet.

and miller has? also price is 7 years younger than miller
i dont want miller and his hugeass ego anywhere near our team

That's what I said in my post. Do you think cutting my left nut feels good?

Fans get so defensive when Price's name is mentioned, geez.

I'd love to add kadri..just no way we could, but franson may actually be a possibility...apparently they are having some negotiating problems.

They have enough space to add Kadri, Gunnarsson AND Franson.

However, it could put them very close to the cap.

Secondly, we have Subban and Eller needing contracts next year. Emelin and he's UFA.

The year after that Galchenyuk and Gallagher are coming up on RFA status, too. We're in no position to be going around trying to poach other team's RFAs.

Furthermore, Schenn and Couturier are RFA at the end of this year. Would rather poach one of them.

Eklund? Nothing will happen.

Edit -
sal ciffa ‏@sciffa 3h

@EdmCaper @JimmyFingers315 rumor is:Edm get Price & Mont D. Buf gets Gionta, Edm Star, 2 2nds, McCarron. Mont gets Vanek and Miller.
----

fake, lol.

If MB trades, Price, defenseman ( Diaz ? ), Gionta, McCarron, for Miller and Vanek. I will personally cancel my season tickets.

It would leave a bad mark in our long term prospect pipeline in exchange for a short term boost.

Don't get me wrong; Vanek is awesome. But doesn't he fall UFA next year? We would trade some of our best pieces just to gamble on the possibility that Vanek renew?

That's a stupid gamble to make.
