No more Pageau for now. I like him but his first call up impact has worn off.

Insert Regin or O'Brien. Condra is annoying me as well. He should take a seat for a game or two.

Latendresse - Zibanejad - Silfverberg
Greening - Smith - Alfredsson
Conacher - Turris - O'Brien
Michalek - Regin - Neil

Very weird and unexpected but what the hell

Methot - Gonchar
Wiercioch - Cowen
Phillips - Gryba

1) You think Michalek is a fourth liner? You want Chris Niel to be a scorer like Michaleks line mate?

2) Gonchar and Wiercioch are a proven offensive D combo, why split them up?
Wiercioch and cowen wont mesh well.

------
On a side note, I do want to try Michalek on the rookie line. I think it might be heaven waiting to happen

Well in fairness to me I said it was weird and unexpected.

I've really soured on Michalek. He's not doing anything with Turris and Alfredsson, so that leaves the rookie line to put him on but he might just drag them down and I'd rather try Latendresse tbh.

Wiercioch and Gonchar should still play on the PP together. But I find Gonchar doesn't get enough ice time when paired with PW at even strength. The point of the Methot - Gonchar pair is to have a #1 pair/shutdown pair. Phillips = 3rd pair minutes. He needs to play less.

New-look forward lines: Conacher-Turris-Michalek. Greening-Smith-Alfredsson. Silfverberg-Zibanejad-Condra. Latendresse-Pageau-Neil

Better but not ideal. Ideal would be,

Michalek-Zibanejad-Alfredsson
Conacher-Turris-Silfverberg
Latendresse-Pageau-Neil
Greening-Smith-Condra

Weird Condra is up on the 3rd line. Last game curiously he had the least time on ice with 7:22, and behind Kassian.

It kills me that the worst player on the whole team in Condra hasn't been scratched once. It also kills me that everyones excuse for him not doing anything is that he's a 'defensive specialist'.

We were behind the ball 10 mins in. He really doesn't contribute much offensively, so his ice time not surprisingly was dropped. I am assuming by behind Kassian you are referring to Kassian's time in the Toronto game?

Anyhow, I like the lineups, their is potential for offense on all 4 lines, and allows for the occasional double shifting Michalek or Alfredsson on one of the top lines to mess up the oppositions line matching attempts. Even throwing both Alfredsson and Michalek out for the occasional shift with Pageau couuld create mayhem.

If Karlsson plays, transition should be greatly improved too, though I'd really have liked to keep Wiercioch in the line-up.

Not that it would ever happen, but in all honesty, Wiercioch should be in before Phillips and Gryba.

Phillips is just terrible. TERRIBLE.

Guy is on pace for 20 pts as a PK specialist, not really anything to complain about if that's your worst player. Sure it would be nice if he'd finish off his chances, but guys like him only get scratched if they are hurting the team, which he rarely does. Besides, we don't really have a lot of depth at RW.

It feels more like Turris doesn't do anything with Alfie and Michalek :(

On pace for 20?! You're thinking he's going to double his total points in 3 games?! Actually, he's on pace for an amazing 12 pts. He's only had 2 points in over 20 games- both assists. He's played terribly, there have been a few nights where it looked like if it was ANYONE else on the ice, they would have had a chance to win.

He is hurting the team if guys like Latendresse are scratched and he's not. Hell, I'd rather have Kassian dressed than Condra because at least he does more than absolutely nothing.

I meant the Pens game but forgot Kassian didn't play. My bad. Makes sense that player's time on ice changes depending on the game.

How does anyone sour on Michalek now? We know he's streaky as streaky can be but awesome with Spezza.

I think he meant over a 82 game season.

Condra does plenty. He has a role. His role is to be a defensive guy. He's one of the main reasons (the other being the goal tending) our PK is tops in the league.

Yeah, I did mean over 82, thought that was obvious.

Just to really emphasize this, he really is used in the least offensive capacity on the team, he easily has the lowest ES+PP TOI per game, less than 12 mins combined. To put that in perspective, Neil gets 13:56 and Smith gets 14:40. That over a hundred mins each of playing time for 1 and 4 extra pts respectively. Obviously those 2 add a different dimension, but so does Condra (PK).

I can understand why people are frustrated with Condra, as he creates opportunities only to lack the required finish, but tbh, I find it impressive how much he creates given the limited opportunity he is given. Personally, I'd rather be frustrated with him not finishing than have him never create anything at all.

I understand the Condra hate to a certain degree, but he does bring a lot to this team that doesn't really show up in the stat column. You can really see the smart plays he makes if you watch him live. So many times his defensive work would help us leave our zone.

BTW, is cdavis banned? He's got a * beside his name.

Would not shock me based on his work in the optimist thread

Well I agree with you, Pageau is not Martin St Louis, at least not yet, let him keep developing in Bingo. I've also wanted to replace Condra for a while now with Stone. Rather than people worry about which line is the 1st or 4th let's just try & get the guys together who play their best together. I'd like to get rid of Latendresse as well, he is totally useless if he doesn't score, he does nothing else. I would also like to see Phillips replaced, ever notice how he seems to be on the ice evry time a crap goal is scored.

Silfverberg - Turris - Michalek
Greening - Zibanejad - Alfredsson
Conacher - Z. Smith - Stone
Condra - JOB - Neil
- Kassian/Latendresse

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Wiercioch - Gryba
- Phillips/Lundin/Benoit

What I like about these lines is there's only one perimeter guy on each line (save the 4th).

Not sure what to expect from the Turris-9MM-Conacher combo, so that should be interesting to see. Looking forward to seeing if Silf can get more shots away playing on the left side (I hope that's what they're doing there), and hopefully Smith can shovel in something Alfie creates.

If you watched Sportsnet then you'd have to think Condra is one of the best players on the team. Denis Potvin is is love.
