Skavin and Faulk both struggled on that 1st goal. Couldn't get it out and worn out on the boards

For Slavin....the passer is a step ahead of Faulk at this point, it's basically a 2-on-1. So you can either play it like a 2-on-1 (which means ignoring the guy in the slot with the clear shot) or aggressively attack the puck (ignoring the other 2-on-1). Though Slavin hesitated for a split second, which is why he just barely missed the pass when he went down.

It's obvious Faulk's not 100%. But if he feels well enough to play, he should play.

I was referring to earlier in the shift that led up to the puck staying in the zone and eventually the goal.

Even so, Faulk's played fairly well this game. As we knew they would, Rangers built on the last 30s and came out with way more fire. Canes, as a team were on their heels and overmatched most of the period.

Pesce is getting wriggity wriggity wrecked right now. Nash pushed through him for his goal and Kreider made him look silly for strolling back for that icing call. Gaps too tight. Guys are flipping it over his head and beating him to it.

Pesce= Wallin 2.0.

Or hopefully he's just burnt out from his rookie season (this is his first professional year!!).

Yep, it's like he's underestimating there speed. He made a poor read at the blue line which then put him in the spot of catching Nash.

. Glad u know that after less than a full season (1st at that) and 21 years old

Not an insult.... strong on boards, good positionally, lack of raw footspeed keeps him down the lineup. Great 3rd pairing/locker room guy.

Besides, I'm so sure I offered an alternative explanation in the post. ;)
