I like him but it's time to make him a PK specialist and limit 5 on 5.

Kadri would have at least 5-6 more assists to his name this season w/o Leo on his line. His shot this year has been so bad. You know it's going soft into the chest.

What I do like about him 5 on 5 is he uses the points well. He will always come in then wait for the right time to swing back and send it. He's been doing it every season he's been here. Works better than some of our forwards who insist to throw the puck behind the net and then end up having to 50/50 chance it in a battle with the defenders.

Hits are such a subjective stat much like blocked shots. Pretty sure the ACC gives hits out like candy. Wasn’t Cody Franson top 5 one year in hits? Also, rubbing out guys isn’t “punishing”. Komarov used to paste guys at least once or twice along the boards which would cause a scrum.

Speaking of scrums, he used to be extremely involved trolling players in scrums, just last night I watched him stand around while Rielly was locked up with Simmonds

Yep Franson instantly came to mind reading that comment as well, the ACC is terrible for giving out hits. Anyone who watches Komarov and sees a "wrecking ball" out there is out to lunch.

Still like him on the PK. He's more effective there as he just gets to ice the puck.

He's been brutal for clearing the zone at 5v5, he's no longer capable of matching up against the other teams best players, he's at the bottom or close to it in CF% every game.

How many clean passes does he make out of our zone these days?

Also, hit numbers still are high, but he rarely puts anyone on their ass the days.

Sucks I loved him, like a Nu-Tucker with less edge and more overall annoyance, but yeah he's probably done.

Like... this is seriously bad and him playing over 18 minutes a games is asinine and borderline insanity.

(He does have 5 EV points but only 1 is primary. Tweet is slightly misleading.)

Actually, he has 5 EV, but 4 are empty netters.

So 5 on 5, he still has 1 pt. One.

I don't know if I've seen worse contract years than Komarov and Bozak's this year. Baffling.

Leo Komarov should have been traded the year he was an all star. that was a bad bad bad mistake.

I don't mind them having kept him. He was a pretty solid defensive player/possession player prior to this year. I'm sure he helped Kadri become more defensively aware.

Babcock just has to start limiting his minutes. He is still decent on the PK but leading the team in ice-time is insane.

Yep. Can't imagine Kapanen or Soshnikov would do any worse if they were given the consistent top 9 ice-time in the NHL that Komarov has had. They can both play the PK as well, though maybe not as well as Komarov.

Leivo has done better with very limited ice time.

At some point, you have to start looking at your veterans and their production. It's not only young players struggling to do their job.

Give Komarov that fourth line spot and let him work his way up the lineup while still getting PK minutes. If he wasn't still a viable player on the PK/Faceoffs he should be in the press box.

He's virtually unplayable 5v5. I don't know if you can keep giving a roster spot to someone exclusively for the PK.

For most part the problem isn't Komarov per say. The problem is the usage of Komarov, especially after game like yesterday. There's a clear difference.

I just read the thread title and wanted to say that I must have missed the part where Komarov was ever a hero. More like mediocre side kick at best.

Id bring him back for cheap to be on the 4th line. He can still serve a purpose there and on the PK. But the fact that he gets some of the highest TOI and PP time is a disgrace.

Hell no.

Not because you’re idea is bad, I wouldn’t mind him being on the 4th line. However Babs seems reluctant to drop him from Kadri, so I have little faith in him actually placing Komarov in a position that matches his skill level.

Komarov needs to go to save Babcock from himself.

Guy has one even strength point all season and still gets 28+min a night. Have to start to wonder if it’s effectient to have a player on the ice for 1/3 of a game whose now a black whole offensively.

Equally perplexing is his PP usage when guys like Brown and Leivo could fill that role

Leo should be a 4th liner and off powerplay. Leivo plays hard but contributes little offensively, in pp time taken from Brown and is horrible defensively.

Personally, I'd slide Leo to 4th line and give Andreas Johnnson a chance in top 9. Or make Kapanen permanently top 9. Johnnson has a pretty hard one time from the right slot for powerplay

He needs to be moved for any random pick so that some internal promotion can occur right away.

Honestly. Give him away for f***ing anything. Please. It's time to move on. I think he's the biggest f*** up out of the 3 UFAs in not being traded, it was clear Kapanen could replace him as a 2 way PK player.
