I could see that as well. But we are a much stronger team of wheeler moves down and we keep Perfetti.
I don't really see how anyone can argue this point since Perfetti hasn't scored a point in 4 games. Wheeler has 17 points, including 12 ES. Kids's had 2 now with Connor-Dubois, so his results are less than what Svetchnikov was producing in that spot.
Perfetti's been given a trial. What he does in the spot is important to making a lineup. Because when Wheeler comes back the Cap and roster space are going to shake someone out. If you want to keep a player like Samberg up, the only solution is to waive a player like Beaulieu, which I know will get approval, but it's not a guarantee that he gets a spot even if that happens. When Wheeler went down, the first callup was Reichel who has scored, and helps the defensive side of the game.
I wouldn't mind seeing a power line of Connor-Dubois-Scheifele that could put up points regularly.
Ehlers-Stastny-Wheeler to follow
And Lowry-Copp are probably the most effective checking line in the NHL. I am pretty sure that's the Jets top 8, who 9 is has been a battle all year, and if Perfetti earns a spot in the top 9, it's only by knocking out a non special teams player, like Vesalainen, so that would reverberate in a more talented top 9. As Harkins is probably the one who gets bumped to the 4th line.
I haven't seen any indication that Dave Lowry is planning to demote his son, who is doing the job required of him, to promote more "potential" scoring.
