From Stanley cup winner to...Chicago who is TRYING to tank? I don't think that will happen. That Chicago team will look like the island of misfit toys, and Barbashev is in his prime and will want to win.

He's won two Cups in a 5 year span and he's set to get paid big in UFA. I think that it's more likely he takes the biggest offered $ regardless of where they are in their competitive window. He's set up really well for a retirement contract.

Id give him 5 X 5 if I am the sens GM. He is exactly what their forward group is missing. They have the skill guys they need someone to make room for them and play physical. They are way too easy to play against too he would be a big help in that regard.

A sens top 6 of

Tkachuk Stutzle Giroux
Barbashev Norris Batherson

Would be on of the best in the league. Hard to play against and skill to score.

Flip Debrincat for some picks. Go after a goalie for the difference in money. One of Varlamov, Hill, Andersen.
Ottawa giving Barby 5x5 is a future meme for sure. That said, you’re not wrong about that being a nice top 6

Beautiful B.C.
I thought you guys were trying to win a cup?
Knies for years helps more than Barbashev for weeks.

Cant you just be happy you got a good deal for ROR and Acciari, then a separate decent deal for Barbashev? Why do you have to try and grandstand about how great of a deal you think you posted on HF boards?

We would not trade you Knies, you did not get Knies. Somehow that ends up in you bragging to Vegas fans

Says who?
People who watched the playoffs. Barbashev is not the delta that provides 3 wins vs the Panthers. Barbashev is not an offensive catalyst. He's a forechecking puck hound who fit in particularly well with that Eichel unit. The problem with putting him in Toronto is that he's a lot of what they already have.

Toronto is already a very good forechecking team. They ran into issues because they had a hard time gaining the middle of the offensive zone and generating high quality chances from there vs Florida. Barbashev was not a player who did that for Vegas that; Eichel, Marchessault, Stephenson, & Stone were.

Pretty sure one of you dummies guaranteed us a cup with ROR on our team, now it's Barby that would have been the difference between winning a single game in the second round and a stanley cup victory over a Barby-less VGK:laugh:

Well no one knew you were gonna player half of your shifts in the 2nd round short handed. Yes, I am referring to Tavares and Matthews ghosting you guys.

Adding Barbashev does not bring Toronto the cup.
And honestly VGK win the cup with or without Barbashev, TDL is so over-rated. Look at FLA last year, blew their load on Giroux and Chariot, and swept in the 2nd round. This year no trades, with a worse team on paper, and they go to the SCF. Goaltending is the x-factor in the playoffs.

Blues really didn’t take full advantage of Barbashev’s skill set. He was like what, the 31st or 32nd player taken in draft and they just now used him in an offensive role the past couple years? Literally almost forced his hand to play in Russia? Bad.
Blues used him on the first line a bit in his rookie year 2016-2017.

The following year in 2017-2018 he started in the top 6 then got demoted and eventually sent back to minors because he was struggling badly. He lost that role that year.
He had to earn it back after that. Maybe he should earned it back faster than he did but our cup year we had 4 solid lines and the 4th line still got significant ice time for a 4th line.

So what team do VGK lose to in the playoffs without Barbashev?
Without barbashev all their lines are weaker and they don't wear down the opponents as much which isn't measured just straight in points. But even from a straight points perspective, barbsehv 2 goals was difference in game 1 vs oilers. If they lose that game and then lose game 2, it's a much different series.

He also had 2 assists in game 6 which besides the empty netter was a 2 goal game not to mention the assists were the game tying goal and go ahead goal. There's a great argument they might not get past the oilers without him.

Also without him in end of reg season they might not win division and have home ice advantage(which includes last change on substitutions, an underrated advantage) and that also could have been a factor as well as different 1st round opponent
