Who are some nhl comps for him?
Konecny.

Stephenson/Hyman are okay comps in the sense they capture what Brindley is: a player who makes those around him better, and looks good in any situation (5v5, PK, PP); but probably not at the elite level where they can carry a line by themselves.

The day we drafted him I said he was already a better player than Foudy (not saying much). But if Brindley didn’t get any better from that point on, you’re still looking at a Tyler Motte level player IMO.

From just watching the third and tail end of the second, I wouldn't guess that Dumais had a bad game. He was fine at the end. One of a few players on the team that can make a high danger set up.
IIRC I believe he became noticeable once they broke up him and Geekie. Towards the end it seemed like he was with Celebrini (which is a better stylistic fit).

His 5v5 impact through the first two periods was not good at all, sadly.

I think that a speedier north-south guy like Danielson or Beck would be a better fit with Dumais and Celebrini.
Beck hasnt done much for me this tournament although he can be a defensive piece on that line but I think the way Danielson is playing he'd help any line. Maybe even Cowan there would help.

Czechia scores with 11 seconds left in third period and Canada goes down in Quarter Finals!!! Harabal played really well in net and Czechia played disciplined hockey.

Starting to look more likely that Mateychuk will be AHL-bound next year, unless Jarmo is still the GM then. It was a good tournament for him by junior hockey standards, one of Canada's best offensive players for sure, but flaws in stickhandling, shooting and defensive game were still very visible. I don't expect such huge improvements in the next 9 months that he's going to be NHL-ready by opening night but we will see.

I haven't watched Svozil much this year but based on what I've read, he also hasn't shown so much progress that we could comfortably count him as part of top-7 D for next season. If hockey season ended today and I was Jackets GM, I'd give Bean a QO and possibly keep Provorov if a solid LD replacement couldn't be found from free agency. I don't think there's downside to letting Mateychuk and Svozil play top-4 minutes in Cleveland.

Many posters on the prospect and international board are rather harsh on Dumais, I'm not quite sure why. He could have been better at converting on his chances but on the other hand he had plenty of takeaways and was a sharp passer in general. Still can't predict how effective even-strength player he will be at NHL-level ultimately but I think he could at least be a some kind of PP specialist.

People are hard on any prospect that has a vocal backing. Most of Dumais' loudest supporters are just random hockey fans that just say outrageous things so people push back extra hard. Usually see it with the big fanbases but Dumais has caught the attention of some very excited fans

Maybe I suck at evaluating talent, but I thought Mateychuk looked incredible at both ends of the ice.

Seems like the advanced stats show him as one of the best D in the tournament.
