There was rumor the Heat would be moving to Alberta somewhere but didn't think it would be Calgary. Saddledome is already pretty crowded with the Hitman and Roughnecks. Works out a lot better for recall logistics and having the farm in the same city should provide more development opportunity. Just never drew well in Stockton, even this year with the #1 team.

The Heat open up their semi final series with the Colorado Eagles tonight at 7:30 MDT.

Dominating 5-0 win in Game 1 for the Heat.
Wolf makes 23 saves for his first pro shutout. That total kind of flatters Colorado tbh, they were ran out of the rink the first two periods.

Kirkland opened the scoring with a bit of a fluky backhand off the back of the Eagle's G helmet. Then Kirkland sets up Welinski for a big blueline blast 2-0. MEP displays some nice patience on a 2 on 1 to setup Tuulola after Zary forces a NZ turnover. Kirkland gets his 2nd bouncing one off a Colorado defender with Pospisil driving the net. Phillips then tips in another halfway through the 3rd. Kerins looked decent, played with Phillips and Pelletier.

Heat lose Game 3 against the Colorado Eagles 6-5 in OT. Jesus what a hockey game, had everything.

Phillips was our best player, really hope they can fit him in on the roster somewhere next season. Kid was everywhere, had two goals and could have had 3 more. Duehr, Welinski, and Froese also played very well. Wolf had kind of a tough night but yet again 2 goals off his own defense. Only one or two Eagles goals I would say were stoppable. Pelletier scored on a breakaway but otherwise was a little quiet. Zary, Kerins, Tuulola, and MEP were just ok. Solovyov again I liked a lot, probably the most poised of the Heat defense and puts it on the tape of the forwards in the NZ nearly every time.

Heat win a nail biter in game 4 1-0. Not really a ton of quality chances for either team in this one, lots of good defensive play. Wolf with a 40sv SO, his 3rd of the series. He was great. Was good to get Valimaki, Mackey, Gawdin, and Ruzicka back into the lineup. Eagles have a good team, put up a quality fight the last couple games.

Kirkland got the only goal of the game, lowkey a monster series for him. Froese and Welinski also provided some good vet experience.

Heat face the Chicago Wolves in the Western Conference Finals.

At least the baby Flames are good

The baby Flames are why even if we regress a bit in the upcoming season, we're still going to be a good team going forward and will only at worst need to do a re-tool rather than a blow it up rebuild. The "Flames are going to be awful, no depth, no good prospects" is severely blown out of proportion.

Hey Guys - what's the current lines looking like?

Has been changing a lot this run with guys getting called up, finishing their junior seasons, and injuries.

Mostly been :
Pelletier - Ruzicka/Kerins - Phillips
Kirkland - Philp - Duehr/Pospisil
Zary - MEP/Gawdin - Tuulola
Gallant/Kerins - Froese - Pospisil

Mackey - Welinski
Valimaki - DeSimone
Solyvyov - Poolman
Gravel - Kinnvall

Wolf

Heat are in tough against the Chicago Wolves. Veteran heavy roster, Leivo leads the AHL playoffs in scoring with 16pts. If they can get a split with a win in game 2 that would be huge.

Heat lose a heartbreaker in game 2. Leivo scores with 17 seconds left on a breakaway after a tough turnover by Gawdin to win the game 3-2.

Heat were the much better team outshooting the Wolves 35-21. Kirkland and Tuulola with the goals for Stockton.

Ruzicka was out as was Gallant. Injury for Ruzicka?

Tough loss @ home in game 3 for the Heat. Shutout 3-0(EN). Honestly Stockton played pretty well at all aspects until it came to scoring. Blew a lot of chances and also had a goal called back on a quick whistle. Their G played well but Heat just straight missed on a lot of shots. Pelletier and Phillips are not having a good series. Heat are down 3-0 to Chicago and face elimination Friday. MEP was skating well and Kerins was pushing the play.

Not sure. Would have to guess it'd be an injury. He led the club in p/g this season. Gallant is a 12-13th forward guy.

Having a veteran team in the AHL is massive; it’s not shocking guys with such little pro experience could be having a hard time.

Guys like Leivo and Chatfield have been massive for Chicago. Panik too. The Heat veterans have been good as well, Froese, Welinski, and especially Kirkland have been huge.

Heat complete a gutsy comeback in game 4 and win 4-3 in OT to force a game 5 tomorrow. Glenjamin Gawdin ties it up with less than a minute left and then wins it on the PP in OT. Wolf made a lot of monstrous saves, had zero chance on both Wolves goals. Chicago had several breakaways the Wolf shutdown. Valimaki might have been our best skater which is good to see, he was everywhere. I don't think I need to see Pospisil make the big club in October or anything but I'd like to see him up for a stretch next season. Reminds me of Hathaway.

Whats up with Ruzika? Is he injured? He never played any playoff games with the big club and only 2 playoff games with the Heat so far. I have no idea why Sutter didn’t give him any playoff games(assuming he was the 13th forward).
