Random thoughts and points.

I LOL when Cangy mentioned that the game was sold out.
Unless there was an ice storm or blizzard, no way, tons of empty seats.

A few morons banging the glass to the left, Real hockey fans don't do that.

Rico was pushed into Mrazek.

Was hoping we would coast to a 4-1 win for a change after Nico scored.

Travis was a little better tonight.

Sevs was very good.

Just finished watching the game.

Gibbons was kind of off tonight and then he makes a clutch play and GWG.

Don't know if this was already mentioned but the game turned in the 3rd when Wood turned it over at the Detroit blue line.

Instead of making the safe and smart play of banking it into the zone he tried to do too much and it led to an odd man rush and Mantha goal.

If Hynes can bench other players like PZ then Wood should sit Monday.

Devils had the game in control up until that point.

Thrilled with the win though.

Lol wut? Wood was all over the highlights. His nice backhand saucer to Santini helped set up Boyle's goal and he had a breakaway on the powerplay. That turnover happens 30 times a game, and if Boyle had just stayed with Larkin, Moore would have been able to play Mantha's shot more aggressively.

Also, Zacha wasn't benched for a turnover, he was benched because he was playing like dog shit. Wood is far from perfect, but I don't see any reason to bench him now.

Sometimes he gets a little out of control with them, but he gets my vote for the most improved player this year. He couldn't escape his D-zone last year, at times when he would get in.

Never thought he'd improve this much without extensive AHL time this season.

I don't know when he improved or how he improved, but he also took that healthy scratch in the opener pretty personally.

He was just about to break down in tears there....

After he started playing, he's now like :

Haha when did this happen? Looks like he's Ric Flair woo-ing!

I forgot all about that goalie interference call. I'm fine with the goal not counting, but annoyed that a penalty was called.

Lovejoy's had a few poor games, like particularly against Vancouver and maybe even a couple games before that, but he's also been decent in other games. There was one point where he had a hard time clearing the puck on the PK tonight. I think it was in the 3rd period, so it was probably during the Henrique goaltender interference penalty.

I can't complain about him too much. I think I'm happier with him in than Prout. It also keeps us from spending more time in the penalty box.

Apparently Amanda did color with Matt for a period. Chico is home to host some ice fishing festival.
Thanks for the update. I was afraid he was getting burnt out with the travelling again, after coming back, when I heard he wasn't around last night or in Detroit. I remember he wasn't around for the Boston game, so I assumed maybe he just stayed behind for Thanksgiving with his family in Minnesota, which is where he lives/his offseason home.

Man it really makes me so happy that we finally don’t have to look at the around the league threads with envy over other teams young kids having big seasons.

Now we have three kids of our own doing incredible things.

Good lord, somebody need to feed this kid some protein shakes before he gets broken from a hit along the boards.

Because protein shakes makes you strong or just big

Wouldn't it be a good idea to get rid of stafford and prout while the still hold a little value? We have Johansson, palmieri -----> blandisi and quenville as the next guys for not mention Hayes or you could flip Hayes with stafford.

What value does Prout hold? I’d say nothing. Maybe a minor league contract?

We really have no reason to get rid of him anyway, as his spot isn’t needed by anyone and he doesn’t even play.

But that's exactly what our Ahl team could use a cheap Ahl vet to help them a little. Get what you can get because he has showed he doesn't belong to our NHL roster with he's plays on the ice.
If not a Ahl vet then a NHL 7-8 d-man.

This did happen, and at the time I thought, Wood needs to get that deep. Especially when up by 2.

But Hall had a turnover near the blue line that led to a strong Detroit rush the other way about a minute later. Then the Bratt drop to Hall also led to a Detroit rush.

So not a good play by Wood, but he's not alone, and none of Wood Bratt or Hall should be benched. They make too many plays otherwise.

Nobody is "trading" for Prout. In the event the Devils wanted to get rid of him, they'd put him on waivers, which he might even possibly clear.

Another shotless game from our future 2th line center... Zacha should be sent to the AHL, be playing top line minutes and producing some offense trying to save a little bit of his potential. He isn't good enough to play top6 minutes in the NHL and he won't develop playing third line minutes... bring Quenneville or Blandisi up. Let Zacha develop his offense in the minors.

Not a fan of Henrique in the 1PP, does the same job as Boyle, should give his spot to Nico who's a much better playmaker and work better in tight spaces and along the boards.

I thought he rang one off the post on a backhand in the 1st on a rebound

I’ve never seen a Devil’s player as under appreciated as Damon Severson. He’s 23 and playing at an elite level. He’s one of the engines that drives this offense.

Around the rest of the league, Butcher is understandably overshadowed by Hischier, but holy smokes 1/4 through the season he’s on pace for 64 points as a rookie defenseman.

And you add to it that he was a free asset. Absolutely outstanding.

We need to understand the situation when we get the 2 goal lead.

1. First shift after we score, double the intensity. And get the puck deep.

2. Failing to get the puck deep, instead turning it over at their blue line, cost us both tying goals. Miles Wood on the first turnover especially guilty. Benching offense. Get it deep. Instead they've got the odd man rush the other way. Second turnover, Bratt and Hall, more of a random thing. But we didn't need that risky play, the drop pass just inside their blue line, right then.

Play situational hockey when you get the 2 goal lead in the 3d period.
