Dumb question as I'm sure it's been answered and I've just missed it. Is the only entrance to this building through the winter garden?

sucks having to walk all the way around the rink to get in and get out..if your seats are on the opposite side of the arena

I wouldn't really say that and the average person walks farther for all the washroom and concessions trips which will now be closer at hand and less walking outside to go warm up your car at freezing Northlands.

Plus, the facility is going to be having all sorts of things to see in it while you're walking around and the point is for people to mill about and discover the new amenities.

Virtually nobody is going to be thinking. "Whats the closest bee line to get in and out of this place. The whole point of the arena is to get people interacting with it, and the area more.

There are two entrances, the north side and the south side. The south can be entered from the casino or the winter garden. If only a floor plan showing the gates was available to look at......

I went past the arena on 104 avenue eastbound for the first time in months today. That road is usually blocked off when I'm around. Seeing it from that side still makes me think of a giant mosquito.

Those entrances are going to be major bottlenecks as well. Total nightmare to get in and out.

One news article I was reading states the entrance from the winter garden to the actual rink is 52 meters wide. That's a lot of metal detectors.

One of the bowl camera's was moved (most likely temporary) and shows the upper concourse.

Both bowl and rink cameras were moved. Bowl camera likely to show that there is work in progress inside, just not in the bowl itself. Or they may not want video of the OHS rules being broken with the screen install:sarcasm:. Rink camera is currently affixed upon a piece of scaffolding. I would guess it will be reoriented sooner than later.

so the concourse is going to be much wider so its not congested and there will be more bathrooms correct?

as an avid beer drinker at the game, bathrooms is one of my main concers :D

But from the pictures it looks like that will be taken care of i hope

Actually the problem wasn't the concourse at Rexall. Its all the merchandising, concessions, and people standing around and blocking traffic that is the problem. With lineups being the worst. Address lineups or at least use a roped line and get those lines OUT of where everybody walks and there would be not problem.

The concourse I'm seeing above doesn't look particularly wide. But as long as they don't screw it up with a lot of blockage it should suffice.

Its not the design of these corridors that fails, its how they are used.

Finally, now that theres lounges and such perhaps people just gabbing can use them and get out of the way instead of seeing 20 people standing in the middle blocking traffic for thousands. :shakehead

Rexall has some of the narrowest concourses in the league. Rogers Place is almost double the size in terms of square footage (approximately 820,000 sq. ft vs 497,700 at Rexall) and the seating capacity didn't change drastically. Most of the extra space will be devoted to very wide concourses and more luxury suites, I'd imagine.

now this might just be me, I do go by it everyday ( MacEwan student), but is the outside silver material different than you guys imagined from the first picture they had (concept??) I felt like it was going to be one solid piece wrapped around , making it look seamless and IMO extremely sexy... compared to this ummm tiled look?????:(:(:(

There was nowhere to rope people off though.
