If you don’t think he makes our second line more of a challenge, we’ll just disagree. They sure can, because the guy they traded Spooner for has 4 points in his last 12 games.

I know I’m the guy who raised Spooners points, so it might sound hypocritical. But IMO Nash passes the eye test for me — even when the points aren’t there. Spooner never did, so if he’s not producing points he’s not doing anything. IMO that is not the case for Nash. Just me, but that’s what I think.
I’m happier with him in lineup in PO’s than without. What we do with him in off-season, I think we all hope, is a long way off.
I agree. I’d like to see more as well.I like Nash in the lineup over Spooner too, but I think it’s a moot point to bring up Spooner’s lack of production when Nash’s has been worse over the same stretch. You’re point about Nash’s game being a better fit I can agree with, but he’s not a step up in offensive production yet at least.
Heinen's first real pro contract at $3-4Mil??? Not likely.im ok with nash coming back but it will mean 2 not just 1 of bjork, debrusk, heinen, donato, pastrnak, backes, marchand need to be moved
theres already 7 names here and only 6 jobs. 1 already is on chopping block.
of course the trade value coming back for someone like heinen should be juicy
what makes more sense to us for the next 3 years... heinen at his new contract or nash and whatever we get for heinen?
neither nash or heinen are better than marchand, pastrnak, or debrusk imho and its debatable either will play above donato. so we are talking about who we want as our 5th depth chart winger
at 3-4 mill i keep nash... heinen would cost around the same to keep. our window to win is now
nash is no 7 million dollar savior but hes defensively sound... a big body... and good for scoring chances and 20 plus goals
at the right contract hes an asset
I agree. I’d like to see more as well.
I think I introduced a red herring with Spooner. I was just reflecting on a comment(s) posted saying the price was high. I guess I just don’t see it as a hugely high price. Not inconsequential of course, but not that high either.
Heinen's first real pro contract at $3-4Mil??? Not likely.
Would be great to move Backes, but...not bloody likely with that contract.
Unless Nash absolutely catches fire during this playoffs, I wouldn't want him back for any price, really.

Heinen is already better than Nash. It would absolutely insane to move him in favor of Nash. Of that list, if you have to move one you move Backes first. I don't see why any of them need to be moved at this point. I don't know why you seem so eager to move Heinen.
In a cap World I would never suggest trading younger players over vets. It can get ugly quick, as we saw with Chia.
That man thought me a lesson on value of healthy u25/prospect pool.
what you mean is good contracts over bad... if you had a choice right now of eric staal or ryan johansson you take eric staal
If you have a choice rick nash on a 3 year deal at 4 mill or heinen at 5 years for 4 mill i think an easy argument can be made for rick nash
In 3 years we might not want either guy at 4 mill on our 3rd line with cheaper elc contracts on the way
Of course if you see heinen top 6 maybe you keep him. I see pastrnak, marchand, donato, debrusk ahead of him...
So talking aboit a 3rd liner that can command a multiyear deal at maybe 4 mill
Spooner, to me, was the epitome of a 'soft' player. Good riddance. I gotta admit, though, I'm kind of bummed with what Nash has done. I had visions of the Nash from 5 years ago and back. I always thought that he was a good shooter and capable of beating people 1 on 1. He's scored a truck load of goals. Really suprised to read here that his shot is weak and inaccurate. Still hoping he'll make his mark on these playoffs.I may be wrong. Either way, Spooner had two different segments to his final 20 with Rangers. One hot - one fairly tepid. NYR fans went from “what a steal” to “not sure we can/want to spend what he’ll get paid - let’s trade him” pretty quick. I think a lot of B’s fans can relate.

I'd like to see more out of Rick for sure...He was playing like a guy I'd like to resign next year...but in the playoffs that extra gear just doesn't seem to be there..Hes had some golden chances to show up and bury one and just didn't....You'd think a guy like him would be hungry for a cup...And if he can't find that gear surrounded by vets like Chara, Bergy, Backes etc...then I don't think he has it..I hope he shows up at some point because we'll need him if we go deep..
Not to say hes been horrible..hes been physical and lead to scoring chances and has been noticeable..but he needs to be better. This is the playoffs.
I was also wary; now I'm becoming weary.I`ve been one who`s on the record as being weary of Nash come playoff time myself, that said, coming off a concussion, I`ve actually appreciated his game, hasn`t shied away or bailed from contact, has not at all been shy to shoot either. Pts might not be there but I have had no issues with his overall game. That said, he ain`t paid to miss

Our two 33 year olds (he and Backes) are, lets face it, merely complementary players for us--although we acquired them to be, and expected them to be, major pieces of our top 9.
The success of guys like DeBrusk, Heinen, RileyNash and the worker B line have actually served to mask how sub par the acquisitions of Backes and Nash have been.
I know that picking players is like picking horses, but the abject failure of throwing large money and terms at both Beleskey and Backes, and the relative unimpressive play of Nash61, is concerning.
