The Kings finished two points out of 1st in the Pacific Division in 2012. They were regarded as dark horse contenders before the season, and they were contenders entering the playoffs.

Kings went to the playoffs the two years prior to 2012 and, even without Kopitar in 2011, fared better than the Kings have since 2014. Those teams were also much younger than the current version.

Kings made the trade for Richards who was still considered a stud. They were definitely thought of as contenders going in to 2012: much more than they have been since the 2016 season.

That was a team on the rise just needing to breakthrough. The current squad is a team on the decline that just need to be broken up.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Been saying it for awhile, Quicks playing style isn’t good long term. We’re ****ed.
What is "for awhile"? Were you saying this in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, or 2014? Because it kinda sounds like that saying about hindsight. He's played the majority of every season since 2008-2009, except 2016-17. He's one of the most durable and gutsiest goalies of the past decade. Let's just hope he recovers fully and rocks out with his balls out when he gets back.

Those years you mentioned, he was under 30 in those.

This could be bad for Quick. I've just had my 4th meniscus repair in 18 months. The last 3 by the orthopedic surgeon that the Kings use (Dr. Kvitne at Kerlan Jobe by 405 and 90).

Both left and right knees had repairs but the cartilage went on to tear further after surgery + there's all sorts of residual pain and problems. Not sure if I'll ever run again, can't imagine trying to get back on skates and doing what he does. Then again I don't have his support team for rehab.

Good luck Johnny Boy!!

Been saying it for the last 5 years, certainly and probably even earlier than that. His style and the way he plays reminds me of Mike Richter of the Rangers. It’s almost uncanny how similar they are. Goalies like that do not last long and Richter lasted 13-14 seasons. We are at season number 10 for Quick and injuries are piling up. I’d be surprised if he plays out the contract length.

That's not terrifying or anything. Thanks!
