Consider, if you will, that Bergeron essentially learned hockey at age 5 by sitting in the net for a month or two and just watching.

He's been watching this team and the league for the last month. He must be even smarter now. ;)

Welcome back Bergy :)

It'll be interesting to see if he gets a Selke nomination this year, I would assume not with Couturier, Barkov and Kopitar all having great years. Low 60s in games played is just too big of a gap to get votes IMO. I bet he finishes 4th though. It's a shame because he's been a beast when in the line-up as per usual.

I always want him to win, but I hope he is at least a finalist. If the only way guys can beat him is because he missed too many games, oh well.

But I really, really want him to get #5.

It's actually a toss up to me at this point....I'm not sure if missing the 20ish games he missed makes him any less of the best defensive forward, but I doubt the voters share that sentiment.

I gotta think being at PPG and his rep among voters will outweigh the missed games. wouldn't be surprised if he wins it again.

Plus gotta factor how voters break up the awards. The Bruins are one of the 3 best teams, and have given up the fewest goals in the league (16 less than 2nd)

Rask isnt getting the Vezina and there's no Norris candidate, they're going to feel they have to reward the team defense somehow and that falls to Bergeron and the Selke

Saw a great clip on Patrice Bergeron when he started playing hockey at a young age he asked his mother
that he wanted to play goalie but his mother told him that playing goalie would cost more for equipment. How that work out [Amazing] Bergy. Also at the age of 10 years old not only that he was excelling in hockey he was a great piano player, one day at piano practice his piano teacher told him that hockey was interfering in his music and he should quit hockey. That same day he told his mother and Quit....that is music and the rest is history Best 2way center in the whole league. YA BABY!!!!!:thumbu::thumbu::thumbu:

I hope they’d sit Bergeron tonight, his line hasn’t been the same since he came back. I think his foot is still bothering him out there so I’d rather see him closer to 100% for the first round. Sit Marchand too.

For me, this is the exact reason to play them, even if they weren't fighting for 1st place tonight. Maybe you play them fewer minutes, but I think the 1st line and 1st D pairing need as much time as possible to get back to their standard of play going into the playoffs.

I agree with this sentiment.

The line isn't back to what it was, but you could see a big improvement just from the 2nd period on last night.

Give them time to regain that chemistry.

You’re right, last night Mcavoy started rushing the puck like he did before his injury. I wonder if they’ll sit anyone so Nash can get a game in before the playoffs.

Evidently this year is the tenth anniversary of the charity Pro-Am hockey tournament that Bergeron and Gagne do every year. Looks like Bergeron talked Marchand into going this year. And it's going to be at the Videotron in Quebec City. Big venue for that type of event, it would seem...

I hope Bergy doesn't defect someday if Quebec ever gets a team.
