You can be an economic conservative all you want but the second you support far-right policies, then you're out of a league dominated by Cdns and Europeans

Tough luck

I dont think it had anything to do with his politics, rumor is after the Rags last game he had to be physically "controlled" by a larger player in the locker room.

I don't agree with matching DeAngelo and Avery.

They have two very different methods by which they are lockerroom cancers.

Avery's an absolute dickhead... but Avery was a dickhead largely because of little man syndrome. Chip on the shoulder syndrome, you know? He was a dick because he figured people were looking down on him. Also, he's just a prick.

DeAngelo just has ludicrously troublesome beliefs and is also a prick.

Avery, on a team with strong leadership like the 2002 Wings, was a really positive force. When you had guys like prime Draper who could out red-ass him in the gym and beat his ass if it came to it and the Captain on hand to lay into him if he did shit, Avery toed the line. Read the quotes from Draper about him, Avery probably added a year or two to Draper's career by being there to be the red-ass training partner. It was when Avery got into the spotlight with weaker leadership that he started really going off the rails.

Horrible person, ok.

People could change?

Not the first time in human history.
Tony DeAngelo has proven time and again that he hasn't changed. But sure, this time he'll change. If not, no biggie just nearly 5 mill a year for 2 years to have some douche bag around.

Do it!

Still, I don't see Yzerman doing it for some reason, even though the upside is obvious and the downside is negligible.

It has been such a long time since the Wings had a real offensive dman in the lineup, even if he doesn't last long in the organization, I'd love to see someone who can make a pass or shoot a puck on net.

How does a guy go from 50 points and 60 games from the blueline, and sizable contract, to over?
In two weeks?
What did I miss?

Bad in the locker room and supposedly got into a fight with a teammate last night. Overall bad person... doubt he will ever change, but still a better defender than half of the Wings blue line :(

Steer well clear of him. I'm encouraged by the fact Yzerman has already done that once with him, and is very unlikely to bite here.

Here's a protip. If you want a place on a team and in a locker room, don't be a toxic person. This big mouth bigot is reaping what he's sown.

I really dont think the issue with him is his politics. He disrupts locker rooms in a negative way literally everywhere he goes, and his performance has been bad enough that the rangers felt it just isnt worth putting up with his bullshit.

As was stated on the mainboard thread, there are probably a lot of players in the league who have ... hmmmm let us call it "outdated" political views, we ourselves got to find out how old school Datsyuk's view on marriage was.

That isn't necessarily a problem, every single person is entitled to their own opinion no matter how out of place or inappropriate it might be.

This player's issue seems to be how he conducts himself as a humanbeing. He quickly runs himself out of opportunities despite his obvious offensive skill. Now they're saying he had an altercation with a teammate after yesterday's OT loss. If anyone of us were him, looking down a stat line of 1 assist in 6 games with a lot of O zone starts, I think we'd understand our position isn't one of strength. No real tenure with the Rangers, no letter on his jersey, still relatively young in terms of league experience. If you're in a spot like that, you probably keep your mouth shut and work on getting your game to where it needs to be.

IF I were DEt or TBL I would claim him. He is at worse your 6th d and pp specialist.

Ive watched enough of Dekeyser/Merril/Djoos on the power play. I'd claim him and try to rehab his value. If he's that bad just waive him again. He would've been our 3rd leading scorer last year. For what it's worth, the guy does seem like a prick to me also.

Yup hes a prick but our d is horrible id pick him up in a second and put staal on the taxi squad , he plays good enough but for some reason we hate him as well haha we can always trade him in the off season for a good pick if we eat say 50% off the cap

Im sure holland would pay us a 2nd again for 2.4 mill of d’angelo just to make the ppl deadlier , last ive checked barrie’s been a fail there. He succeeds here even better

The only redwings d we have that i see being here after next season is hronek so id say go for it

I don't think Stevie likes him.

He's a righthanded offensive D with some defensive issues.

I think I'd pick him up. Maybe just to trade him.
But I don't think Stevie does.
Pretty sure you can’t trade a player the same season or they’d have to pass through waivers again. Unless you’re talking trading him next year.

its a joke that people are making this guy out to be a criminal . ide claim him and put him on the 1st pp , with plans of him possibly being a long term red wing . and instead of seeing him as a villian ive more respect for him speaking his mind

No. It's got nothing to do with him speaking his mind.

HE IS A f***ING ASSHOLE TO EVERY MEMBER OF EVERY TEAM HE'S EVER BEEN ON.

You could lobotomize his political beliefs out of his mind like Superman does in the Injustice universe and I still wouldn't want them to pick him up because he's a f***ing disruptive force in the lockerroom while not being a good enough player to overcome that. We don't have the litany of hard-asses, bad-asses, and leaders that we did in 2002 to keep assholes in check.

It's not about speaking his mind. There have been incidents throughout this players career and noted "maturity issues."

There was an incident in the tunnel to the lockerroom between him and the goalie Georgiev that sounded like they got in a fight.
He's been a healthy scratch for behavioral issues.
He's been suspended in the NHL and juniors for abuse of an official.
He was suspended twice in juniors for violating the OHL's policy against racist, homophobic and sexist language. And one of those slurs was directed at his own teammate.

This guy may wash out of the NHL not because he's not good enough, but because he can't figure out how not to be an asshole.
