Playing in the NHL is such a low bar. I'd guess most 2nd pair AHL dman will probably see some time in the NHL.

Can we just start pasting the articles in here so I can stop giving the guy page hits?

Multiple sources around the team have indicated the team is really high on Pesce, I don't think it's outlandish to say he's gonna get a chance this year. Nothing Luke said is off. This is the best bunch we've had, especially on the top end.

I keep thinking Fleury gets underplayed around here and in the media.

These three as of today look like the most likely and ready. Training camp hasn't even started obviously so....meh.

Thought it was a good article.

The only thing I thought was "off" was grouping McKewon, Carrick, and Wesley together and then beneath them Ganly and Slavin. Switch Slavin and Wesley and it's fine.

To be honest, if we give up more then one of our mid-tier D prospects and a pick I'm going to be miffed. Keegan Lowe + WPG 3rd (conditional on him playing more then half the season)? sure

I saw Glen Wesley on a flight to Detroit yesterday. I'm guessing he was flying up for the Traverse City Tournament. He flew coach, I was in first class because I get upgraded all the time, was kind of funny. I didn't bother him, but was interesting that no one on the plane from Raleigh=>Detroit recognized him. I've always left players alone when I see them in public for the most part, and did the same with Wesley, but was interesting.

By the way, I like the trade for Versteeg, especially since the way his acquisition from the Panthers leads to him still being paid by Florida partially.

Maybe other people recognized him and also left him alone the way you did.

I saw him at the mall once, but didn't say anything to him because who wants to be approached by random strangers at the mall?

Versteeg has sucked for 2-3 years. Why would we give up anything?

Frankly, open roster spots are generally more valuable than players like Robertson, who just burn resources while clogging up the prospect pipeline.

The other guy wasn't even signed to a contract, so we traded the rights to a 6th round pick which pretty much qualifies as "nothing".

I'm surprised they don't resign tlusty for less than 1.5 million. A player who just had a better season than Tlusty in Glencross could only get a PTO.

My only guess is that Tlusty showed his hand too early and GMRF is using that to his advantage with an extremely lowball offer. That or he doesn't care if Tlusty makes the team marginally better and he'd prefer the younger guys fight it out (although I'm not sure what young guys we have that could play anywhere in the lineup like Tlusty).

Versteeg signing likely means bye-bye Slutty. Francis probably thinks he's got his top two lines filled out and the remaining battle in camp is for #12-#13-#14 forward. That's a competition between Gerbe, Terry, Woods, McGinn, Di Giuseppe, and to a lesser extent Sutter. Ryan doesn't slot in at that position. Wallmark and Tolchinsky both need time in the AHL (alothough I belive Wallmark goes back to Sweden if he doesn't make the big club).

There's going to be an equally intriguing battle for the #6-#7-#8 blueline position between Jordan, Murphy, Biega, and Pesce (I'm assuming Hanifin makes the team out of camp and plays on the 2nd pairing). I've said it before and I think it bears repeating, do not count Danny Biega out. He could easily beat out Ryan Murphy unless Murph has developed significantly over this past summer.
