Until he proves he can be a #1, that job is definitely Stepan's to lose in AZ.

Stepan is just as skilled and a much better all-around player.
don't want a bald 1c :sarcasm:

yeah I guess stepan is better. neither is a true 1c but both are good 2cs so should be a fine 1a/1b. I really think the gongshow of montreal held back galchenyuks offense tho, could be a consistent 60 point guy if all goes right in zona.

Keep being literal, it's the only way you can make a stupid counter argument.

Galchenyuk averaged 31.2% of the time on a line with DLR and Lehkonen. As opposed to Domi who played most of his minutes 16.1% of the time with Stepan and Keller.

Keep telling yourself DLR and Lehkonen are of the same caliber as Stepan and Keller. Just make sure you're not telling me that, I have low tolerance for stupidity.

Apart from when that stupidity is your own I suppose? Just like the person vacuuming is never as bothered by the noise they are making than the people around them.

Arizona having a very good problem to have down the middle right now no doubt Stepan is the 1c can Strome repeat his end of year success, what about Dvorak kid is pretty good too, now adding a guy who scored 30 goals last time he played Center getting away from Therrien and Julien like coaches should be interesting what Galchenyuk does.

We should have got more. That aside, I like Domi's playmaking ability and his intangibles. Domi, Gallagher and Shaw are quite the trio of tormentors.

If i was a player I would always be worried on the ice if Shaw hits me he could really hurt himself need to take extra caution try not to hurt him too badly when he runs me

That is kind of annoying not really torment tho

u traded a Center (where you have Danault JDLR and Froese) for a Left Wing (where you have Pacioretty Hudon Drouin Byron Lehkonen Carr and Deslauriers, and now Domi)

nice going bergeboi

Galchenyuk isn't a centre. If he couldn't handle it against the Atlantic Division he is going to be made extra foolish in the Pacific divison. He will be a fine left winger there though.

He was making a body check against another teams player. It wasn't "for no reason" that's how the game is played.

He tried to run Pateryn and got concussed it was I believe his last shift of the year. Im fine with the game being played that way but not by guys who are in such rough shape they're getting multiple concussions every year.

My point remains it's not exactly torment to play against Shaw anymore

Pateryn on #Habs Shaw incident: “I thought he took a run at me... it seemed like his head hit mine and there’s a reasons why a guy like that gets 4-5 concussions a year and I think his play speaks for (himself).”

Every time I saw a habs fan saying Galchenyuk could play C, everyone from other fan bases would make fun of him. Now that he's been traded and Chayka said he can play C, it seems everyone agrees he can play C... funny..

Just because your team is pathetic doesn't mean you can't succeed elsewhere. See Justin Schultz.

Just an absolutely disgusting trade for Montreal. Galchenyuk has been misused since the day he put on the toilet seat sweater. I've always thought he could be a top 6 centreman and envied the Habs for drafting him 3rd overall. For an organization starving for centres as much as the Buds were before Matthews, getting another winger, an underwhelming borderline bust winger who scored 4 actual goals last year (5 empty netters) and less than 10 the last two seasons, on a team that is also starved for goal scoring and offense, for a guy who was misused and could potentially break out as a good top 6 centre with the Coyotes is nothing short of a tire fire, gongshow move for the Habs. Makes this Leaf fan happy to see the Habs pissing away all their assets though :) I've always liked Galchenyuk or "Chucky" as they call him, and I'm excited to see what he can do in AZ given the proper usage, ice time and linemates. Absolutely abysmal trade for Montreal though and once again for the third year in a row, Marc Bergevin absolutely s**** the bed!

The Habs weren't winning with or without Chucky. Not sure why people are up in arms about this trade.
because a team with, by far, the worst center depth in the league shipped out a guy who COULD play center for ANOTHER small one dimensional winger with scoring problems ?

Marc Bergevin " Centers???!?!?!?! we don't need no stinking centers!"

then he goes back to listening to " little wing"

Was that Pateryn saying that or his girlfriend?

How does the french media still love him? Honestly get bent

Watch RDS and AntiChambre, read Journal de Montreal. They are the largest media in QC and they led the campaigns against PK, Eller and Galchenyuk, they defended the trades, and Rejean Tremblay had the gall to suggest a holocaust against francophones in Journal de Montreal when little Davey Desharnais dropped out of the lineup a couple years ago. They have stood by Bergevin through it all. This is a problem if you view the Habs as a sports team that should win the Stanley Cup, but business as usual for those who view the team as some sort of cultural property that requires the coach, GM and top Centre be a certain ethnicity.

Anyway Habs now have the team they deserve lol.

because they provide him with cover for his awful moves ?

you look, objectively, at who is a better center, Alex Galchenyuk or Jonathan drouin. Not only did Drouin get a MUCH MUCH longer leash, you know who bore the brunt for montreal's lack of production down the middle ??

Alex Galchenyuk. Our GM trades our one valuable prospect for a completely uneeded undersized complimentary winger with the idea that " hey let's try him at center". They DO and its not as bad as you can imagine, it was WORSE.

The number of times that either the GM or drouin humself got called out for such an assinine scheme is a fraction of those that were directed against Galchenyuk.

They love him because they are complicit in this whole mess.

at least in Arizona he will get the chance to flourish as a #1C playing against bums like McDavid/Draisaitl, Kopitar/Carter, Getzlaf/Kesler, Pavelski/Couture,
And there's the rub. Tocchet won't like Galchenyuk as a full-time C any more than Therrien or Julien did. Chucky will get eaten alive at C in the West and need to be sheltered just like he was in MTL.

Guy is a PP specialist. He can shoot, but that's about it. There's not going to be any "resurgence" in AZ. He is what he is.

Solid argument as per all your other arguments thus far. Very hockey and topic relevant.
Go back to your bubble where anything you say makes sense, I'm done humoring you.

As was already pointed out, even by your own analysis, chucky was not playing on the fourth line with scrubs. Not sure how much more you need.
