I am not joking when all 4 teams in the International League (Class AAA) are below .500. What the heck is going on?

I think you mean the International League South Division. There's plenty more than just 4 teams in the IL.

And it's official - the Bakersfield Blaze and High Desert Mavericks will cease operations at the end of the season and two new teams will be added to the Carolina League for the 2017 season. One will play in Kinston, NC and the other location is up in the air but will likely be Fayetteville, NC.

Which ballpark could house a team temporarily for MiLB for the 2017 season in Fayetteville?

J.P. Riddle Stadium. It's the former home of Fayetteville's last minor league team, the Fayetteville Generals/Cape Fear Crocs (the current Lakewood Blue Claws), and the current home of their Coastal Plains League team, the Fayetteville Swampdogs.

No word on who will be the 2nd expansion team in the Carolina League for the 2017 season. And the league hasn't released a 2017 schedule yet. I'm worried.

I doubt there's much need to worry. My money would be on Fayetteville. A year or two in J.P. Riddle and then a move into the new stadium.

Rangers complete purchase of Kingston MiLB franchise

You get back to us on that 2nd expansion team, Carolina League. Anyday now...

I'm still hearing Fayetteville's a lock. However, the interim home of the team wouldn't be J.P. Riddle as I've believed up to this point, but Jim Perry Stadium, located on the campus of Campbell University in Lillington, NC (about 36 miles/44 minutes from Fayetteville).

The new Astros High-A team will play their first two years in Buies Creek, NC at Campbell University's Jim Perry Stadium while their permanent home gets built in Fayetteville. Their interim name will be the Buies Creek Astros. Interesting that they're not going with their permanent name from the start. I guess Brandiose doesn't have enough time to generate a logo for them in six months.
