Nice stuff. Congrats. Have to say,I'm surprised that it was Niemi he beat for the record.

Edit. Oh,It's since the lockout.

Lockout also skews stuff as it has forced results. I wonder what Dryden's first 100 games look like, he probably still has the record, even with ties.

It’s easier to get wins nowadays. Plus he plays on a stacked team.

Yeah, since the lockout is a real f***ing kicker here. For a second I was amazed I had no idea that Niemi had formerly held the record.

Pretty insane when you consider that's only a 62% winning percentage, which is pretty low.

How is it easier to get wins?

And I'm not saying this is super-impressive

It's easier in a sense that there are no ties anymore. So OT/SO wins skew the stats. But parity is much higher these days so it evens out a bit.

Went on eliteprospects to check out Schneider and Rask but they didn’t even show stats for wins. Is that a new thing or is it because I’m on my phone....

Congrats Murray. Hell of a first couple years in the NHL for him.

I'm not getting wins either from EP. But hockey-reference lists wins. Overall it's eons better than EliteProspects. I recommend you try HR.

Yes, wins are a team stat, but it's not as if the goaltender has nothing to do with a victory. How many high-powered offensive teams have we seen that can't string together wins because their goaltender is just average?
