Game after game , his slick puck movement and skating skills never fail to impress. This guy doesn't shrivel under pressure, it actually seems to bring out the best of him. I love watching him play, it never fails to amaze me, just when you think they got him he pulls something out of the hat you never expected. Huge fan.

Been on the Gryz train for awhile.

Tonight definitely showed a lot.

He has slip ups every now and then overall I’ve been really impressed with this kid

He has been really good. He and Carlo had some good chemistry going last night. He is so confident, makes good decisions, he has a high hockey IQ. Love watching him.

He should see some more PP time

I feel like he has a ton of offensive skill but hasn't really gotten a chance to show it off much in the offensive zone

It probably wouldn't happen, but I almost wonder if you leave him on PP1 and let Krug slide to PP2. I know both PP's have the ability to score, but I feel like we put all our high powered players on 1 unit.

Marchy - Bergy - Pasta - Nash - Grz

Krejci - Backes - Krug - DeBrusk - Heinen

^When McAvoy returns you could move him around in either PP unit to give different looks

If Krug and Chara cant go tomorrow, or if they’re held out for precaution, I’d love to see Zboril get a game.....

Grzelcyk — Carlo
Holden — Miller
Zboril — McQuaid

It’s ugly as all hell but you’ll get another chance to see Grzelcyk in a top 4 role (he’s proven he can play on a 3rd pair). Also be fun to see Zboril and it’d be a benefit for him to see how the NHL game is.

Pump the brakes Dan, Geez. He's ok at this point.

If he turns becomes a Jared Spurgeon type player, I’ll be happy. Brain Rafalski? Jesus....

Well when Rafalski was Gryz's age, he was toiling away in the Finnish League putting up about half-a-point a game.

He even spent the next year (his age-25 season) in that same league, now putting up a point-a-game. It wasn't until his age 26 season that Rafalski broke into the NHL.

Now granted it was a different era in the NHL at the time, smaller D-men were often overlooked, but comparing Rafalski's age 24 in Finland to Gryz's, Matt seems to be the more advanced player at that age.

Who knows how his development will track moving forward. This may be as good as it gets, or maybe he can continue to get better.

I once said Krug’s ceiling was Rafalski, and I think at his best he can have that kind of impact.

I’ve been really impressed with Grizz in every situation he’s put in. Can he drive the offense on a power play and put up more points going forward? It wouldn’t surprise me at all.

I kept looking past him in the prospect depth chart last year but he is #2 behind Mac on dee. Never knew he was this calm and could handle the physical game. He is a defensive Heinen with the stick checks and passing. We sure got lucky on him and his talent.

Krug and Rafalski are different... Similar height but thats about it

Rafalski was a beautiful skater and solid on the defensive end for a 5'10 D. Same as Grz

But Rafalski also produced a point every other game. Maybe Grz will be able to do that one day (especially if he gets more chances on the pp)

Watching him last year, I thought he would be too slow for a guy his size. Whoops.

I thought he wasn't quick enough and didn't have the offensive instincts to get by in this league at 5'9. That's just from what I saw in pre-season, where he saw a lot of action and PP time with Krug out. Glad to be wrong. I think a lot of people look at the size and expect a certain type of defenseman.

He's the kind of guy a team like Nashville would sign to a 4 year extension before his minutes and production spike.
