Tight lipped sure but that hasn't stopped them from speculating.

The first 2 days of nhl are here. The leafs debuted with a laugher against the jets. MLB post-season aswell as NBA pre-season has begun.
This is the busiest time for sports. But sure..what's going on with the 7th dman.

Yes Ricoh is close, but it's not like you can have a D go down an hour before the game and get a Marlie to suit up in time. Especially if they're on the road. They'll have 7 for sure and it doesn't make sense to have Rosen sit in the press box. Something will happen before the weekend.

Babcock & co are doing this to distract the media on small team issues like who the 7th D will be. It has everyone talking hilarious

You realize different people report on different things? You didn't have to reply if you didn't have any clue.

You know, I think you might be right on one level.

The team needs to be grounded and uncertainty in the room over any player movement will have players playing for their jobs.

Gotta manage egos, especially after the beating they gave last nite.

  1. That makes no sense at all. You want your up and comers to play not practice and sit, and play the odd game. Borgman won the spot period. Now unless he shows otherwise he stays. I do agree slightly that may not be ready for an 82 game marathon but, for at least 52 which he played last year. Not saying he cant do it but, maybe not. However those 52 games were big minutes, playing most of the night. Now he is the last pairing guy (less minutes). Also why would our management make such a brash move after 1 game.
  2. In my opinion if Rosen were going to stay the leafs would have waived Marincin in the first place. Our management is smart. I cant see them saying "oopps should send him down," after one game, really? You think Lou and Babcock didnt think of all the angles? They even kept both guys up till the bitter end before making the decision. This is why I say it is a cap thing, involving a possible trade. Clears or not, 200,000, isnt something that would stop a deal. Well in theory it could, but I think the move was to clear space for a roster player. Who that is, dont know.

wow guys we had to be under the cap by 5pm tuesday it has zero to do with cap unless there is a trade
LTIR is not a blanket release of Lupul's contract. By having Marincin on the roster at the time we filed the exemption we effectively doubled the cap room we gain by sending him down.
My guess is that we have a taker for Marincin, but they don't want him on their NHL roster. So we get him through waivers, and a team gives us a pick for him to store in their AHL team as a depth option.

I like your thinking

Long time coming.

He is barely NHL caliber. I always got a laugh from posters who hung their hat on his underlying stats and acted as if they saw something the rest of us didn't. This player simply wasn't good enough and didn't pass the eye test - not once. Terrible outlet pass, handles the puck like a grenade, lacks confidence, and is allergic to physical play.

I still remember watching game 6 vs the Caps and the camera zooming into Marcinin's face during a faceoff in OT...I knew right there and then the Caps were going to score...and they did.

You dont get my point. I am saying that you think our management didnt know that prior to today? If they were going to send him down for that reason then they would have before today. They would have done it Tuesday. Tell me why today matters? In the sense of making that move? It matters if you are making a trade. We could have easily done this before and kept another D of our own up simple as that. But no, we wait till today for what reason? So the guy on the Marlies collects travel miles?

So guessing he becomes the Yo-Yo man to save as much cap space as possible. Send him down on days they can to save cap space. Fill the pressbox when needed.

Weird timing on this. Have to think a Polak signing is coming. Don't see the point otherwise as Marincin is an ideal #7.
