I loved it... stood up and clapped.

Reff could've let both slide... but the hit WAS bad and deserved penalty... mind you Hornqvist DEFINITELY had some theatrics and sold it too.... great call.

Penguins have the best powerplay in the league so of course they would be diving and embellishing every game, quite pathetic really. It's about time the refs stop buying into it.

Letang had an Avery like dive in the first game and in the 2nd game Malkin dropped like a sack of potatoes in a scrum...which is odd given how hes one of the hardest players to knock down or off the puck.

I've watched every playoff game aside from Tampa vs Jersey due to blackout restrictions and Penguins are quite literally they only team diving/embellishing. They're an embarrassment to the league, they're trying to turn the sport into soccer/football.

i legitamately believed Hornqvist embellished it and they got it right. Guys outta his mind, he's like a rabid dog. gotta admire the effort to draw that penalty though by helping himself into the boards. a guy you want on your team come playoffs but he plays on a line.

he also had this dirty play where he punched Patrick in the head while he was down on the ice.

Hope him and Manning drop them in game 3, refs had to escort them out at the end of game 2 so the powder keg didn't explode at the end there.

That clip doesn't really show the alleged slew foot...and personally I have no problem with a couple shots on the ice like that. It's definitely dirty, and maybe a penalty could have been called, but it's the playoffs. Didn't seem like they were really that forceful anyway.

A flying elbow aimed at somebody's head I definitely have a problem with tho.

Ok...so why did he fling his head back and throw his arms in the air after?

Yeah i couldnt find the extended clip with the slew foot unfortunately.

That's not embellishment at all. He's on one skate when he gets hit, so you naturally extend your leg to keep from toppling over. Then he hits his jaw on the dasher. If that's Hornqvist cross checking MacDonald into the boards I wouldn't call MacDonald for embellishing. I'd be thinking "crap Hornqvist is getting kicked out for that". Not embellishment at all. Role reversal, still not embellishment.

The embellishment comes after the hit the way he bounces off the boards.

GREAT GREAT GREAT call by the refs! After he got hit he flung his head back and arms like he was shot. Even the Flyer player said some words to him because they know when a player embellishes or not.

GREAT CALL.

He's got a thing for elbows. At one point this year he went flying in, threw one of those elbows missed and took his own guy out instead. I think it was Sheary that ate it maybe?

Edit: found it:

Hes just one of those guys that has something wrong upstairs. You can see it in his eyes too. Not a normal person.

Meh, I just see him as like a coked up Hartnell. Plays on the edge, goes a bit extra in the playoffs. He was definitely feeling it last night, though, if he connects on the Manning thing that's a pretty egregious, suspendable offense. No problem with him throwing his weight around and getting his extra shots in, that's postseason, just don't want him to mash any faces with his elbow pads.

A coked up Hartnell is a terrible human being lol

I’ve wondered why I don’t read HF as much as usual, but then I saw this thread and have my answer.

But I’m a Penguins fan so my opinion doesn’t matter.

Not seeing the embellishment there. I feel like that was probably the ref punishing Hornqvist for other things he did in the game.

He didn’t “fling” his head back, it hit the boards that will change the direction of your head. One arm went straight down to the ice the other arm went up but it’s not trying to sell it. Feel free to slow it down and that’s what you will see.

One of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. Put your head into a wall and you don’t need to fling your head back. The wall will force your neck/head to change position.

Something that could have caused a concussion but the NHL calls it embellishment. What a joke.
