Richard Panik starts his first day as a Leaf on a line with Daniel Winnik and Peter Holland. Matt Frattin now an extra.

Like the idea of putting Panik with Holland.
Need to give Holland opportunity to play with some offensive minded players.

Franson now getting power play time with Phaneuf .... Hard to say which way Leafs will go. Percy arguably was Leafs' best D man Wednesday.

Franson and Phaneuf on the power play will result in a lot of shorthanded goals against.

Always the possibility the Leafs might go with 7 D tomorrow night. #TMLtalk

I don't think it's quite necessary. Just give Franson more time to be fully healthy.

Carlyle told a joke at the whiteboard that had the whole team chuckling. We'll guess it wasn't about Crosby's 17 points in 13 games @ ACC.

To be honest, I'm betting that's about Crosby's actual pace and not that horrible considering we were a bad team during almost his entire career.

Edit: it's not like Moulton where his PPG is significantly higher against the Leafs than his average PPG.

I still don't understand why the PP isn't Gardiner - Phaneuf and Rielly - Franson (or swap Gardiner with Reilly). I get that Reilly and Gardiner on the same PP bring a unique element, but I'd rather have 2 pairings with a heavy shooter and a quick PMD on each.

I assume it's because Kessel easily brings in the puck on the PP so we put our next best zone entrance players on the #2PP, but I still think a #2PP with Kadri, Lupul, and one of the pmds can get the puck in the offensive zone easily.

This may be the wise way to go, just in case Franson's knee acts up.

For those who don't follow the Guelph Storm.

Holland - Panik was the core of the Storms 1st line for about a season. Had some chemistry.

Cody Franson says he is day to day

Sounds unlikely for Saturday. He needs to be 100% before being inserted in the lineup. No need for him to play until then.

Carlyle says it's unlikely Franson plays on Saturday, but Sunday is possible

Franson looks doubtful for Saturday's game. Sunday probably a better fit. Only possible lineup change would be Panik for Frattin. #TMLtalk

Jonathan Bernier was the first goalie off the ice at practice today. Would think he starts tomorrow with James Reimer to follow on Sunday.

If after the weekend we still don't have anything going, I think I'd try and split the top 6 amongst 3 lines and see what we can get going...

Komarov - Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Santorelli - Kozun
Lupul - Bozak - Clarkson
Winnik - Holland - Panik

You would be correct. He's actually below his career average at the ACC.

Crosby's NHL career PPG = 1.40
Crosby's ACC PPG = 1.31

But that doesn't paint the Leafs in a bad enough light.
