Confirmed with Link: Kings have traded Jonathan Quick to #CBJ as part of a deal that will send back Joonas Korpisalo.

For cap space someone will have to go with deals for Vilardi, a top 4 LD (hopefully Vlad), another goalie (hopefully Korpi) unless you go barebones or worse some games like the Rangers did right around the deadline. Plus roster management necessitates it
Subtracting Edler, Walker, and one of the surplus 4 million dollar wingers should do the trick with room to spare.

Gavrikov just looks more and more impressive every game. Has totally solidified our 2nd pairing. Unless he has some ridiculous expectations, Need to get him re-signed, no doubt about it for me
Blake just lucked out since he and this whole organization doesn’t have a plan you know.
Kings have a better than 50% chance of resigning both Gav and Korpi and I have no doubt Blake will do everything he can to do so.

while i agree that it was the right choice, i'm not sure i'm using this one as my "blake knows what he's doing" argument. he made the right choice with his back up against the wall but there was plenty opportunity to not be in that situation to start

that said, there isn't an ounce of argument against gavrikov at this point and quite frankly i doubt there ever will be unless blake handcuffs himself again with a monster contract. even then, gavrikov might be the guy you send it on. just not sure we'll be able to afford both gavrikov and korpisalo unless we can get out from under 1 or 2 of iafallo, roy, walker. things loosen up in 24-25 but there ain't no dancing around next season being tight.

I truly hope so. But I'm very curious how you are calculating and basing the "better than 50% chance" of resigning them both? I'm very good with mathematics -- but maybe i'm missing something.

I like this trade more and more from the Kings perspective. Gavrikov shut down McDavid in game1 and Korpi was more than stellar. Resign?

It's not a question of whether we want to re-sign them, rather whether they want to stay. 1st period game 1, I was thinking "Gavrikov won't sign here unless we win at least 1 game". I still think Korpi is a lock to re-sign. If only we had another Russian on the team for Gavrikov

The balls it took to make that needed trade.

Love Quick but he was done. He’s not even getting a sniff in Vegas at this point.
people were ripping Blake for it, I get sentimentality, but prefer they do what is best for the team to win. I saw what happened when Dean went sentimental.

I don't think Copley as well as he played during the year would have stood up to the barage of shots.

Buyout Cal and maybe you free up enough cap space to sign both guys you acquired.

Korpisalo is the priority. Do what you can to get cal off the books. Send Kaliyev and Spence with him. Get it done.

Buying out Cal isn't really an option. The 1st year penalty is worse than his cap hit for next year so there's no point. Burying him in the minors might be the best thing so we don't lose an asset trying to dump him. Buying him out next season would be much less against the cap.

I think Chychrun was the #1 target and hit a snag a few times, over the months and glad it did not happen. Too costly and even if he didn't get injured again, would not be the difference maker AT ALL
and Gavrikov and Korpisalo have been 2 HUGE difference makers. The Kings do not make the playoffs, without *Copley. The Kings also would have NO chance in round 1 vs Oilers, without Gavrikov, Korpisalo and Fiala...the last 3 key pieces Blake acquired. Go back a year and include
Danualt and Arvidsson and the Kings are partying in Vegas or golfing without - Gavrikov, Korpisalo, Danault and Arvidsson. (too bad Fiala is out)

*Has there ever been a player that led his team to the playoffs and then not played in the playoffs??? In any sport. I would have to say no. honestly it's a shame he probably will not play in the playoffs...for what he did. But I'm 100% riding Korpisalo.

I fully understand any and all vitriol towards Blake, but the Kings are only playing now, becaause of those deals. I also think Luc and Cheeseman were for trading Quick, once it was said he wanted another contract.

Chychrun would have cost #1 2023 and more...heard Turcotte and more assets. Probably a #2 pick 2024 as well. So happy that was not done.

As a CBJ fan, logically I am supposed to be pulling for EDM so the 1st round pick you traded for Gavy and Korpi is as value as possible. But, I cannot help enjoying see both play a big part thus far in shutting down McDrai and co. Good luck y'all.

I want a Cup but I’d be content in a small way to just beat the Oilers.

The clock is ticking on this being the worst trade in franchise history if both Gavrikov and Korpisalo walk.

Edit: Okay, this is a bit hyperbolic. Nevertheless, if both players walk, and the Kings lose in round one, this is absolutely one of the worst trades in recent Kings history.
