17:03 minutes of ice time. 1 hit and 1 block shot. It was really hard to watch Morrissey when most of the o-zone play was on Byfuglien's side. D-zone, he quickly pushes the puck up or pass to Byfuglien's side. He just plays a simple game.

He processes the game so well, his decision making is very fun to watch.

He plays a very smart game. Quick reads and transitions, great first pass, terrific mobility. His rushing and point play were standout features of his junior and AHL career -- be nice to see more give and take with Buff (we've certainly seen it in a few games) so that JMo can exploit his offensive speed and skill a bit more.

Maybe even some regular PP time. A fan can hope.

Morrissey with great vision when given the chance. Nice calm stretch pass to Little.

Yup, he is quietly chipping in offensively, while playing a pristine defensive game.
He is tied for 8th in points among rookie defencemen and is 3rd in points among D aged 20 or younger. All this with next to no PP time and no PP points.

Now that Moz has played half a season in the top 4 and put up a +2.5 AdjRelCF%, maybe it's time to remind everyone about that time that Gare Joyce threw him on the scrapheap of busts with Cormier, based on a single-game sample:

WJC success doesn’t always translate to NHL

Wow. Stupid article. Goof said Fred Gauthier might have some upside because he was +7 at that point in the AHL. Brilliant stuff...

Not bad for a 21 YO who will be 22 in March.

Nice to see his offence coming into play. I'm sure it would be better yet if he was playing with a more defensively reliable partner. It is not like being anchored to Stu but he does have to be very wary playing with Buff.

I think he will be a very good PP QB once he gets the chance. Great puck distribution from the BL, exactly what we need in a 4-1 PP. Wrong hand shot to match up with Laine so he may have to do it on the 2nd unit.

It has to be a conspiracy that he did not make the club last year. Nobody improves this much in one year. Jets tight with the wallet again?

From what I saw, Morrissey struggled in the beginning with the Moose lat year. And from what I've read, he just improved in the latter half of the season.

Josh and Trouba are our best D men. Too bad Troubs wants out. Hope we fare better with Morrissey.

Unlike Trouba, Josh is big time with helping out the community, he was named the Moose man of the year or something, based on all the community work he did, his reaction when he was drafted was damn near Scheifle ish... He was happy and it was obvious. Trouba didn't really show much emotion when he was drafted. His dad certainly didn't look that happy.

Josh is a pretty humble western canadian kid, he's a damn good guy and perhaps might just be the nicest and most down to earth Jet on the team.

Great to hear about Josh's contributions to the community and attitude. That's not to say Trouba can't become that one day. Just cause that's not his priority or attitude now, doesn't mean it always won't be.

Morrissey puck retrieval and breakout is already awesome. The hardest thing for a defenceman is turning around to retrieve a puck and putting a pass on the tape in less than a second of looking (Chiarot would agree this is the hardest part). The fact that he's obviously put tons of work into the hardest part of the game and it's paying dividends...the sky is the limit!
