So....outside chance of him making 2017-18 club and good chance of him being a regular in 18-19?

I'd say no chance of making the 17-18 club... in fact I think it'd be a mistake for him to leave college after this season. He needs to stay in college at LEAST 1 more year... maybe 2... then turn pro and spend some time in the AHL.

So 19-20 is the realistic season?

I would say yeah.

I disagree with 2 more years in the NCAA though, I think the team will do everything they can to get him signed before a 4th season so he can't become a free agent.

I said 1 MAYBE 2... and yes the team will try to get him signed before the 4th season, but we've seen many players go 4 and sign with their draft team without issue as well... so I don't think the Wild would make a big deal of it.

Russo said during intermission the Wild really want to sign him this summer. He specifically mentioned Greenway over any of the other guys in college.

I couldn't remember if it was Greenway they were talking about or someone else. Kinda why I thought he'd have a slim shot of making the team next season.

God he's going to be fun to watch....

Kid's gonna be good, y'all.

My biggest concern with Greenway when we drafted him (and there's a post at the beginning of this thread to prove it) was that he has all the tools but no toolbox. I'm very happy to hear that he's taken such a positive step in his development since the draft and it's great to hear a guy like Pronman say that he'd be valued as a 1st rounder now when we got him at 50th overall.

He's clearly playing a big role for Team USA at the World Juniors which is great to see too. Glad that we're not seeing another Bulmer/Bussieres situation where their hype pretty much peaked at the draft.

Yes they Need more second round picks like Zucker and Greenway and less Bulmer/Bussieres.

I believe you see Greenway go pro next year and play 1 year in Iowa with an outside chance of him making the roster next season. Sounds crazy, I know, but I've been really high on this kid since we took him.

Greenway finishes the WJC with 8 pts (3g 5a) in 7 games. Very nice to see.

Also...

JD would be Jordan's little brother who is a defenseman for UW

There is no need to rush Greenway. Give him two years in the AHL playing in the top-6. Get him a professional skating coach in the off-seasons. Having him work on his hands a bit more.

And then look out. :)

Dude was throwing some nice hits, as well as being a monster around the net. 6'5'' and 226 at 19 is pretty beastly

6'5" and 226 is beastly at any age!

He'll probably add another 5-10 pounds before he turns pro.

Big difference in strength between Juniors and NHL. Bjugstad looked like a monster in college, but couldn't carry that through to the NHL. If he plays in the NHL next year I'd like to see him having a Stewart, Coyle, or Gabriel out there watching his back, because he will get challenged by some tough guys.

What surprised me about greenway was his IQ. Didn't see him making mistakes out there.

Yeah, he kinda reminds me of Bjugstad, just in his frame. The first time you saw Bjugstad play, you knew he was gonna play in the NHL. Same impression I got from Greenway.

He's got the body for it, now we just hope that the other areas of his game develop to an NHL level, as well!
