Oilers needs a RHD that is an upgrade over Russell..

Edmonton native Alex Petrovic? I want Vegas to take him in the expansion draft (Gallant reunion?), but if not he could be a good choice. They may have to go the Hall/Larsson route again and trade for position of need, removing a high-salary contract and improving team chemistry. Worked last time. ;)

Bjugstad fits.

That's a tough sell. I know Nick had a down year and his value is low, plus there was all that turmoil in the management. I'd like to see Bjugstad get another year in Florida before they entertain the idea of moving him. Plus, you'd only be saving about $2M in cap space.

Petrovic would look good, but is useless to us until after the expansion draft, as he would likely get picked over any of our other options.

As per "only" saving that 2 million, I agree - but it fills the 2nd biggest hole on our roster (middle six center), unless they decide to run with Draisaitl as a full time center next year. And at that point, we would need to discuss moving Nuge as well as Ebs.

McDavid-Nuge-Bjugstad-Letestu as our 4 centers would be awesome.

I could see potential for a Eberle/Bjugstad swap. Both just had down years but could benefit from changes of scenery.

The only problem I have with a deal like that is that on the surface Bjugstad seems like an ideal candidate, big body C with a right hand shot and goal scoring touch but digging a little deeper it seems that many Panthers fans believe he isn't really suited to play at 3C.

Can any fans chime in on why this is? Is is two way game lacking a bit? Is he not great in the face-off circle?

Oilers have no room for this guy and would probably have to add to him to unload his terrible contract.

That being said, would any team want him? He's just not a fit for this team at all.

You have to make the playoffs to win a cup.

Anything less than being one of the 2 teams to win a championship.
1 Stanley; Conf Champs
1 Conf Champ.

So we start with reg Season.
You want players who can play PvP (play the other teams best) and break even in Goal differential.

So what has Eberle Done when Healthy?
we Know he has run pvp since 12-13

12-13 (48/82 = .585season)
Running PvP under Krueger
48gm 16G (.333GPG) 21A (.438APG) 37P (.771PPG) -4
converted to full season
82gm 27g 36A 63P -7

13-14 - 14-15
Running PvP under Eakins and MacT
116gm 34G (.293) 51A (.440APG) 85P (.733PPG) -24
-16 per season under Eakins.

14-15
Running PvP under Todd Nelson
45gm 18G (.400GPG) 25A (.556APG) 43P (.956PPG) -3

15-16
Running PvP under Tmac
first 13gm playing with injured Shoulder
13gm 3G (.231GPG) 0A (.000APG) 3P -1Last
Last 56 playing PvP Healthy
56gm 22G (.393GPG) 22A (.393APG) 44P (.786PPg) -1+1

16-17
Running PvP under Tmac
82gm 20G (.244GPG) 31A (.378APG) 51P (.622PPG) +3

PvP HEalthy
138gm 42G (.304GPG) 53A (.384APG) 95P (.688PPG) +2
Coverted to Season pace
82gm 25G 32A 57P +1

So lets look at the forwards who ran
PvP

achieved 20G 47P (top 75 Fwds)

5 Seasons in a row 12-13 to 16-17
Eberle RW Avg 26G a season; 2yrs @ 6M; Age 27, 28

Silverberg Avg 21G per season; 2yr @ 3.75M; Age 27,28
Oshie Avg 29G per season; UFA; Age 29

we have to unload him in a PKG:
one of the 3 longest running 20G PvP wingers in the game!
The guy has Avg 23G per season and Even goal diferential facing the other teams best under Nelson and Tmac.

Who are we suppose to replace that RW PvP Goal production with?

Talk about a complete Lack of understanding of Goal production.

As the origionator of 5 of the most critical hockey analytics theories.
And
a big believer in the Belichek way.

You want top end repetition of production in the toughest situations possible, who as they age can revert to softer comp roles.

Eberle got to face 2nd comp level in 11-12 under Renney!
78gm 34g (.436GPG) 42A (.538APG) 76p (.978PPG) +4 on a -27 Team.

Quite Frankly I grow tired of Sportsnets and TSN owned by the Toronto Maple leafs tampering with the reputation of our players!
They outright lie about our players.

Get rid of Eberle.

You heard it here folks. Andrew Ladd's PVP production leaves scrubs like Jamie Benn and Alex Ovechkin wishing they have five seasons in the row of whatever stat oilerbear has deemed important today.

P.S. Brock Nelson+ for Eberle? Edmonton clears cap and gets a 3rd line center who can provide scoring depth?

I'd prefer Strome. Right handed shot, younger than Nelson, brother of McDavid's bud from Erie, likely on the outs with NYI. Same proposal as before. It works from both sides.

I just searched up Ennis' stats... wtf happened to that guy

He got a concussion. Came back to soon and got another one. He came back this year about 30 games in and looked pretty bad. He started picking it up towards the end of the season but he's questionable. People are hoping he gets back to where he was but who knows. He's probably to much of a gamble for a team to take a chance on right now

I could probably get behind this deal depending on the "+" what you have in mind?

Seems to me like we could probably sign Boyle to a 4 year deal and have a better 3rd line center and still get something for ebs.
