First time hearing of this guy but the article suggests he's been successful in the minors and other Stanley Cup teams, any further info???

Apparently he came from Portland which means, he coached Petan and De Leo. Cool cool cool!

Nice pick up! just my opinion, I am honestly not too sure who is all out there for AC positions. He has a great background coming from Chicago and being under quennville for a bit.

According to the Jets official Instagram account, Kompon won Stanley Cups in Los Angeles in 2012 and Chicago in 2013 as an assistant coach. The past two seasons he coached the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL leading them to a record of 77-54-13.

my darkhorse pick would be Jamie Kompon who is an assistant coach with Chicago since july 2012 and was with LA the previous six seasons as an asst coach and also served as the director of amatuer development. He could come in with a fresh perspective and with the knowledge of what type of system it takes to succeed in this league and how to implement it.

Dear god NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Anybody but Kompon. Holy **** that would be the worst. Kings fans threw a party when he was fired as an assistant coach. Pretty much the worst choice for coach out there, IMO.

This guy sounds like a winner who has experience coaching young players.

Kompon, 49, has extensive experience as an NHL assistant coach including six seasons with the Los Angeles Kings from 2006-11 and two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2012-14. Kompon won the Stanley Cup in consecutive seasons, in 2012 with Los Angeles and 2013 with Chicago.

Prior to his time in Los Angeles, which included time as the Kings’ Director of Amateur Development from 2006-08, Kompon spent nine seasons with the St. Louis Blues from 1997-2006 in various roles which included: assistant coach, video coach and strength and conditioning coach.

Oh God, what Holden said is hilarious. Will be curious what he has to say.

Anybody have info what special teams he ran and how successful they were?

Someone on my reddit post about this news commented with this:

"I'm probably being a hater but he had a better team to work with than that record indicates here in Portland. He lost the locker room and made some pretty questionable in game decisions overall. Once he didn't have Petan and De Leo the team underachieved even with good junior players Adin Hill, Caleb Jones, Jack Dougherty, Dominic Turgeon, Rodrigo Abols, and Rihards Bukarts.

You never felt like he could make in game adjustments to fix tactical problems."

Interesting.

That's kinda funny cause I was gonna say he did pretty well with a not so great team in Portland this year haha.

Is he the new ST coach then?
If he struggles with making tactical decisions on the fly, he shouldn't have to much trouble because he won't be making to many of those. That's still MO's job, at least mostly.
This year our ST has a lot more to work with than in previous years so it's not like coming onto the team last year or even years prior where we struggled mightily without any specialists.

PP has Laine and Connor.
PK might have Howden and Matthias depending on where they end up.

Ran the Blackhawks PP in 12/13 & 13/14. Can't recall if he coached their PK as well. The Jets systems/ strategies and play just took a huge step forward I believe.

Great pick.

The only thing that concerns me is that he was just fired in April. They fired him for a reason. And it was with younger players.Someone said he lost the room.I do like him better than Pascal though.
