Oh come on. None of these are remotely relevant. Benning has better hair.
That may be true. I can neither confirm or deny

Matt Benning is a superior player. He doesn't get press because he plays in Edmonton. If he played on a media darling like the Canes, everyone would have Benning in the running for Calder. He's that good.
That's just your opinion though. You have nothing to back this up. You only watch one team. If you watched any other team, this statement may have some validity. You probably can't tell me anything about Matt Benning. Why bother piping up if you don't have any insight to contribute? It's just embarrassing to read.

... Wat
He's in no way similar to ghost.
I didn't say that, I meant he is what he basically was last year this year in terms of hype.

You're neglecting the fancy-stat nerds who are in love with the Hurricanes' shot-chucking and lack of penalties, plus the sentimental appeal of teams with fewer blue-collar fans. Look at Puck Daddy and how they swoon over the "great" thing the Canes are allegedly building.Edmonton is like the center of the hockey universe compared to Carolina.

OK, so advanced stat nerds like some things the Canes do. Does that amount to a love affair in the media as a whole?
You'll have to excuse me, but what exactly in the world are you talking about? Why is there supposed sentimental appeal for teams with supposedly fewer blue collar fans? Why does this supposed appeal exist, and how has it been demonstrated?

I know nothing of this "Puck Daddy" so I looked it up. I went through their news feed and literally counted 92 headlines before coming across one that was in any way related to the Carolina Hurricanes. Those included stories about Bobby Ryan's Twitter account, Max Pacioretty helping someone whose car got stuck in the snow, Anthony Duclair getting a marriage proposal from a 4-year-old, and a cute dog dropping the puck at an ECHL Missouri Mavericks game.
Is there seriously some sort of widespread belief that the Carolina freaking Hurricanes, a team that routinely gets mistakenly called by the Carolina NFL team's nickname on a damn daily basis, is actually stealing away headlines and attention from more deserving teams like the Oilers?
He's always had it, but you could tell he was reigning it in to get back on defense. He's been super conservative in that regard. But now you can tell he's putting things together. The Vlasic comparison has always been a good one, but IMO he's starting to get on Doughty's level.
Drew Doughty? The one that plays in LA? Obviously I'm a canes fan and I love Slavin, but you gotta reign that in. He's not an elite offensive dman by any stretch. He's contributing. Vlasin is a fine comparison.
Not you, the guy you're quoting. Just sayin'
I said he's starting to get there, not that he already was
Say you're on an adventure from Downtown Los Angeles to New York City. DT Los Angeles being Slavin's development origin and NYC as being "Drew Doughty Level"... I would say confidently that you're still in Chino Hills. This is an okay hockey player, but people need to chill. Doughty is a rare, once-in-a-generation defenseman. Unless Slavin hitches a ride with a Concord this summer, it might take years to fulfill this expectation.

I dunno. Just because the points weren't coming doesn't mean he wasn't showing that level of offensive ability. I can't have been the only guy to pick up on it.
who ?
You're saying that based on what exactly?
