2 point again tonight. His offensive ceilling was definitely underrated
Yep. Tends to happen when people don't watch the player they are discrediting. 30 points now in 69gp, 26 of them at ES. +19 on the Hurricanes while playing the most and toughest minutes?!?!?
Oh man Provorov is climbing the ranks of most overrated defenseman.
Slavin is a stud and once that damn team gets even an average goalie and a few scorers watch out. However, plenty of competition with other young d-men, I'd say he's top ten.
In this case though, there was a valid reason for not seeing it coming. Slavin has shown a new offensive level in the past 2-3 months that we didn't see before.
This years' Shayne Ghostisbehere.

Oh, let's be fair. They're both, at least, young talented American blueliners who play in the Metro Division. There's similarities!... Wat
He's in no way similar to ghost.
I dunno. Just because the points weren't coming doesn't mean he wasn't showing that level of offensive ability. I can't have been the only guy to pick up on it.
Matt Benning is a superior player. He doesn't get press because he plays in Edmonton. If he played on a media darling like the Canes, everyone would have Benning in the running for Calder. He's that good.
No, no he's not. And it's not even particularly close.

That's just your opinion though. You have nothing to back this up. You only watch one team. If you watched any other team, this statement may have some validity. You probably can't tell me anything about Matt Benning. Why bother piping up if you don't have any insight to contribute? It's just embarrassing to read.
Oh come on. None of these are remotely relevant. Benning has better hair.Benning plays almost 7 less minutes a game, gets better matchups not having to shut down opponents top lines, more offensive zone starts, and plays on a better team. Yet manages to have much less points, marginally worse possession numbers, takes more penalties and doesn't stand out from his team in +/- like Slavin does.
It's not remotely close.
