Admirals are on live TV tonight for the first time since the Calder Cup Finals in 2004. Still not worth it to me if I have to get Time Warner Cable to watch it.

Little update on the Finns:

Joonas Lyytinen LD -95 born

Playing first pairing minutes with KalPa, top3 team in the league this year. 26 games, 4+4=8 +7 18,54 ATOI,

Juuse Saros G -95 born

After a rough start to the season, he's been the best goalie in the league for the past month. 21 games 92,12 2,34GAA behind an average team. Plans on coming to AHL after this year.

Janne Juvonen G -94 born

Juvonen has been #1 goalie for Pelicans for the past few weeks after injury to their starter. Really raw, some nice potential there.
16 Games 91,79% 2,49GAA behind terrible team.

Saku Mäenalanen LW -94 born

After a rough start Mäenalanen was loaned to Finnish Second League. Has been playing first line minutes with PK and PP time there. 6 points in 8 games. Improving a lot lately with 5 points in last 4 games. His skating needs a ton of work but has some nice scoring potential and size.

Reading on Twitter that there was a line brawl including the goalies in the Ads game.

So did the goalies have to leave after the game misconduct penalites or were they allowed to stay?

Time to Pay Attention to Anthony Bitetto

He's quietly having a great year at Milwaukee. Probably our first call-up d-man. Fifth in team scoring and way out front on plus/minus for the whole team. A guy that has paid his dues and has gotten better - maybe much better.

I'll be interested to see what happens with him. Diaby is likely considered "ahead" of him based on potential but Bitetto is certainly putting up great numbers.

I think as far as call ups, of course I hope we dont need one, but if we do it may depend on who gets hurt. If its Ellis, Bitetto might get the call and see some action instead of Bartley, but if its Volchenkov I would guess Diaby gets the call

also interesting to see what we do with him long term.. hes 24... gotta wonder if we are gonna re-sign a guy that age who probably doesnt have a shot at a roster spot for at least another two years.

I speculated elsewhere that he is the kind of player who might catch another GM's eye and be part of a package for a rental at the deadline.

My read on Bitetto is that he's kind of a "great AHLer, lower tier NHL defenseman" kind of guy...not unlike our own Victor Bartley, but players that came through Nashville like Greg Zanon, Mark Eaton in the past.

Hey I'm a sabres fan and not familiar with your prospects, but I was wondering what is going on with Austin Watson? He was a 1st rounder in 2010 and seems to be having his third straight solid AHL season. Is he highly regarded in the nashville organization? In your teams future?

At 22 it seems like his nhl chance should be about now?

What's the down-low on Hellberg? His numbers look phenomenal yet Mazanec is getting more starts. Only so much you can tell from boxscores for goalies.

Mazanec was the starter to open the season. When Hellberg got in he was great and he's gradually started taking more starts away from Mazanec. Haven't looked but over the past 10 or so games, I'm guessing Hellberg has more starts than Mazanec.

Bartley, 6'0", 200 lbs, NHL career, 78 games, 1 G and 12 A with 29 PIMs.
A good defender, steady and can pass.

Bitetto, 6'1", 203 lbs, last AHL season, 73 games 11 G and 25 A with 85 PIMs.
A good defender, QB on the PP, not afraid to throw a hit or fight, and can score.

I figure that Bitetto is worth 5 G and 10 A each NHL season.

Zanon, he of 12 NHL career goals, is probably a better comparison.

pretty sure Piskula is still the first callup based on need. The NHL experience still carries some weight on the blueline decisions. Alm will get some consideration too, but again... we hope this is a decision we don't have to see made... The D corps ... healthy and effective :)
