waiting for the day when we trade for that big centre man,

I know, I will wait awhile.

Well, we have to big ones right now in the line up but we are still waiting to see the team give them a more important role. Eller, I can wait because Plekanec is still ahead of him and doing well as a 2nd center as for Galchenyuk I seriously hope he can play center this season and replaces DD as soon as next season.

He was a center, drafted as a center, expected to be a center, it is time that he plays center. I'd be very mad if Galchenyuk stays on the wing all season.

In my mind our centers in the upcoming years should be Galchenyuk as 1st and Eller as 2nd.

Would love for us to somehow replace 5'7 DD with Troy Brouwer. We would officially be a big team...tougher.
Would love our top 9 even more compared to now.
Gorges for Brouwer could have worked...

Anyway we could get Dustin Byfuglien??
(he would make us a major contender...PK Subban and Byfuglien...major playoff warriors....The Big Buff is such a waste IF he's not in playoffs...he's a playoff beast).

p.s.: Ryan White won't get a cheap contract (minimum) from us?? if not us...would love to see him go to a Canadian team...Winnipeg or Edmonton, no?

If Goat does have some sway in Chicago, wasn't he a big fan of DD?

Thinking along those lines, $3.5M for a 2nd line centre would be just fine with Chicago.

Why not a package of a defensive prospect/high pick + DD for Sharp and Leddy.

Chicago sheds a lot of cap space, fills a 2nd line centre role and don't lose much in the way of depth, all thing considered. I know everyone bashes DD but he does get 50+ points and maybe Goat is the guy who helps sway Bowman.

Sharp Plex Parenteau
Patches Galchenyuk Gallagher
Bork Eller Sekac/DLR/Ghetto
Prust Malhotra Wiese

I know it's a complete pipe dream but hey, a guy can dream can't he?

I liked your d-squad but then you had to add some silly trades.
And Chucky as a 3C? Give me a break, Chucky should be a top-6.

this isn't a video game... names written down on a piece of paper don't add/detract from a players ability to contribute.

Galchenyuk's line could quite easily end up getting more ice time/game 5 on 5 then the other two, depending on just how good he/gally are ready to be this year.

I love that proposal, but no need to include Leddy. Something along the lines of DD and a 2nd for Sharp would be an amazing deal for both teams.

I'd be fine with that as well. Just saying we have the ability to add more cap to help entice a deal for a forward we're looking for. Just giving as little extra sugar and adding some more depth on defence in case we lose a Beaulieu etc.

Patches Galchenyuk Gallagher
Bork Eller Sekac/DLR/Ghetto
Prust Malhotra Wiese

Markov PK
Emelin Gilbert
Leddy Weaver

Like you said, hopefully he wouldn't even be needed but still fits in nicely.

I would love to get Patrick Sharp, and despite what CHI fans say, I think he is attainable.

I would prefer that he play top line RW and we get a 2nd line LW elsewhere to fill chuckys spot.

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Sharp
Bourque - Galchenyuk - Parenteau
Sekac/Bournival- Eller - Gallagher
Prust - Malholtra - Weise

Ideally, we move Bourque + _____ for an upgrade on LW.
Lecavalier, imo, may be worth a risk assuming he would waive his NMC.

how to you suppose we acquire sharp while still having a full lineup? certainly not bourque

and lecavalier is done. while he could still be useful, his contract is a serious concern and i don't think that bergevin slowly and quietly put himself into a great cap situation, only to waste much of it on vinny. also, keep in mind the RFAs we have to sign next year...

Toews/Richards/Shaw/Kruger, looks to me like Chicago is pretty set down the middle :dunno:

Yeah, Chi has no reason to get DD for 3.5 mil (unless we retain some salary cap).

Leddy is still young, Sharp has great value, don't need a 2nd/3rd center at 3.5 mil and CHI isnt in deep trouble this season.

The odd man is Oduya, 3.4 mil with 1 year left, 32 years old. It'll fix their cap issue this season.

the trouble is the next one.
the Toews and Kane contract extensions comes in and Saad will become RFA.

in the plus
Saad will get a bridge contract (2yr 3mil/per) (+2mil)
Kruger 2 mil (+700k)
Toews (+4.2 mil)
Kane (+4.2 mil)
Leddy and Rundbald both RFA.

in the minus.
Richards (-2mil)
Oduya (-1.4mil) (including the cap fix of 2mil for 2014)
Rozsival (-2.2mil)
Salary Cap raise ???

They'll be 5.5 mil in trouble.
Sharp would need to be traded next season (or Bickell 4mil or Seabrooke 5.8)

don't think Big Buff would be worth what the Jets would want for him, and he doesn't fit the work ethic/character elements MB is apparently trying to build (of course, talent always ends up trumping that)

Brouwer + some bench thug, would round out our lineup nicely.

Defense will have some growing pains, but if Tinordi/Beaulieu "swim" instead of "sink", we could be witnessing the start of a dominant defensive group.

Sounds like MB is committed to having Secak / DLR / Ghetto earn the last spot. I wouldn't be all that upset if we tried Penner or Mueller on a cheap one year deal though.

The competition between Sekac and Andrighetto should be fun to watch, I'm not ready to give up on ghetto yet.

He's been playing close to 24 minutes a game since becoming a Jet, his work ethic can't be that bad. He does have an issue with his weight and doesn't always do the things the coaches want him to do on the ice but I'm not sure it's work ethic issues as maybe he's not as good as they want him to be, more of a disappointment or a scapegoat type of thing.

I watch a fair amount of Jet games and I think his issues are overblown, he comes to play on most nights.

Only If Big Buff is available to us at the right price...only!!
(of course Jets would probably ask for quite a lot! and I don't blame 'em).

Brouwer+policeman/bully preventor...would make our Habs that much tougher.

Washington doesn't want, or need DD. They traded Perrault for a reason.

New Jersey doesn't need really need Budaj. I believe they have prospects ready. Devils already have 13 forwards, so no need for Moen.

Biz nasty and Matt Kassian are both extremely terrible.

While he is lazy, if he wants to play in Canada, Montreal should consider Penner, then trade Bournival. Massive downgrade on speed, though.

No, it would be an amazing deal for us. Why does Chicago trade one of their best players for a guy they know bloody well we'd like to shop and is only good when insulated? They have Richards now and will mold TT into his replacement. Desharnais is redundant to them at best.
