Near Montreal
The same insiders who thought Montreal wouldn't suck? Lol chiarot a 1st... GMs are dumb but nobody giving up a 1st for a 3 lhd... just not happening. It's Ben Chiarot... I mean really at what point do Montreal fans eat that humble pie and just accept you guys and the so called experts don't know shit really. You guys have been wrong for the last 6 months now and the insiders are just looking for clicks so u know... big fan base there for Montreal.

We got a specialist here I see.

toffolli aint worth a first
will keep him than . 7th in goals last year and has produced everywhere he's been . we couldn't trade him anyway unless he wanted it . it would set a bad precedent with trying to sign future free agents

Koskinen isn't crap, he's mediocre, and overpaid for that. But let's remember, mediocre in NHL is what plenty of goalies dream of achieving.

Don't get insulted so easy? (Okay, you didn't.)

The whole point was, nobody knows if Price returns. If his rehab program ends up telling him to avoid the pressure cooker, then that's exactly what he should do. It is what it is. I have mad respect for him for finally taking the one single universally good piece of advice there is: ask for help.

Retaining on Price would be the only way to move that contract anywhere.
And in that case, he ends up on LTIR and Habs can use that $ somewhere else...
What's your point exactly??

Just a comment on the trade alternative, as unlikely as that is.

I agree LTIR is the logical option. Obviously, if the duration is uncertain, that introduces some complication for using the cap space.

Generally of course hoping Price gets well soon and this is all a moot point. He was fantastic last postseason.

toffolli wasn't worth a first when he was traded to vancouver, no way he gets a first now

We'll see if it happens, but Toffoli is a 20+ goal a year player signed at 4.3M and it is def worth a 1st at the very least to a team that tries to win something.
He's a top 6 player paid like a top 9...

They were a fringe playoff team who probably wouldn’t have made the playoffs in a normal season. Price was hurt long term and aging, Weber is likely done, and Danault walked. They had a great ride, but if you think they were close to legit coming into the year then idk what to tell you. They have some nice young pieces to build around but the playoffs were likely a 50/50 shot at best. I’m not saying they had to rip everything down to the studs but the patchwork team Bergevin put together wasn’t going to get it done. They needed more of a long term plan for the future. Bergevin was trying to slap a roster together just to slip into the playoffs.

I don't understand your logic. You don't want a tear down, but you also disapprove of short-term moves... what else is there to do?

Weber, Price, Byron, Danault, Price again, Kotkaniemi, Edmundson... It's been one blow after another. What kind of long-term plan would fix that?

He signed Hoffman to help with the Habs' issues on the PP.
He traded for Dvorak to ensure the Habs would have 2 top 6 centres signed long-term.
He signed Savard because Chiarot and Edmundson had worked out, and it would provide some relief for Weber's departure with Romanov hopefully covering the rest.

He whiffed on signing or acquiring a PMD.
Should he have signed Danault and traded Kotkaniemi? HF would now be talking about how shortsighted he is.

I respectfully disagree.

Marek and Freidge have said a guy like Chiarot gets a 1st.

Since the start of the 2019 season Toffoli is 2nd in the league in Goals at his position (RW). In the middle of his prime at 29, and signed for two years after this one at 4.25m.

I think he could fetch a pretty good package. I don't expect the Habs to move him however for the same reasons I mentioned here.

I'm just checking in to see if we traded everyone....or just their shadows.

Just remember arm-chair GMs, Habs will never sign FAs if they know they are just going to be trade fodder. I have never EVER read any player thoughts were they enjoyed being ping-pong balls.

So go ahead and overuse your imaginations to trade Hoffman, Tofolli and whoever you want, but that is far, far away from how GM's think and act. Particularly a conservative GM like Bbinz.
