I understand why Flame fans don’t want to give up Gaudreau for that package, however it isn’t 99 points in a season Gaudreau anymore.
It is 60 point pace player with only has 1.5 years left on his contract plays small and has a not so great playoff resume player now.
This is why Tree has not traded him yet, the return has not been good enough but I don’t see it magically getting better as Johnny has shown so far that his production 5 on 5 is not amazing.
Flames fans and management are thinking franchise 99 point winger while others see it as 60 point PP specialist that shys away from contact and sucks in the playoffs.
I think his value is somewhere in the middle of those two opinions.

An underperforming perimeter winger, with the muscle structure of a 12 year old and a penchant for folding in the playoffs, isn't going to get a king's ransom. Especially not with one year left until he hits UFA. Gaudreau would net a better haul than the OP's deal but no one is selling the farm for him. Remember, the reason you're trading him in the first place is that he is failing to meet expectations.

either way i do the trade in the op. Boston gets the best player and has about 15 prospects who all profile to be bottom 6 forwards to fill the gaps left by beecher frederic and the off the board reach sweeney would nab in the 1st.

Somehow playing in Sutter's system dump and chase system with a broken Sean Monahan and the bad Ritchie brother isn't a recipe for piling up assists.

He was scoring at a 35g 73p pace before Sutter. Play this guy with any talent at all and he's a 90-110 point player. You can quote me on that.

If Johnny played with an actual #1 center and and a non PTO winger his value would be a lot higher. He can’t do everything himself and Monahan is beyond useless.
