Trocheck? Copp? Trade for one?

All three of those are infinitely better ideas than spending money on Mason Marchment to be overpaid on the 3rd line.

Trocheck will get way more than he is worth. Some team will overpay.

Copp; he's not even a center.

Trade who? Girard? Then open up a hole on D which can't be filled.

There are no options on the market so might as well add a player who will help us out and us a system fit.

Mason Marchment isn't going to do anything to help us out. Please go and show me Stanley Cup winners that prioritize beefing up the wings over the centre position. They're almost non-existent.

Just stay away from Marchment. I'd HAPPILY overpay Trocheck over Marchment.

A wing like Marchment would bring as much offense as Trocheck but is better defensively and would allow us to have 3 lines with relentless forecheckers. And will cost about 2 mil less per year.

when there are no centers to sign and we dont have the assets to trade for one.....whats the option?

Sign a wing like Marchment. Roll with Newhook, Compher, Meyers and Sedlak behind Mack and trade for a 2C at the deadline instead of overpaying millions on an average C during the feeding frenzy.

There are centers to sign. And even if there weren't, you don't just go and spend money stupidly on a 3rd line winger who is surely going to get overpaid.

Come on now.

What centers??

Vincent Trocheck, Ryan Strome, Dylan Strome, Paul Stastny, Chris Tierney, Tyler Motte

That's pretty much it.

The only 2 guys who are an upgrade on what we have at 2C are Trocheck and Ryan Strome. Both will get 6m +

So you make a play for Trocheck. And if you strike out, so be it.

Just because there is money to spend doesn't mean you have to spend that money. Mason Marchment in an Avalanche uniform is barf worthy. There is no sense to paying the kind of money he's going to be asking for. He's a 3rd line winger who had a fluke season. Nothing from his junior or minor league days suggests this is a player that is capable of coming close to what he produced last season in the future.

Just. Say. No.

- Reiterates Avs would prefer to keep Kadri but would need to be a heavy lift
- Thinks Trochek to NYR
- Manson could stay or could go. Sounds kinda 50/50
- Links Avs to Kulak
- Speculates Burky to Seattle
- Guesses Copp is going to Detroit
- San Jose could move Labanc in addition to Burns
- Marchment and Perron will draw a lot of internet
- Guesses Mikheyev to Washington

Can’t wait till the NHL decides he’s still on his San Jose contract haha

I hope he destroys that weak Edmonton locker room. Creates a chasm so big the Oilers are radioactive for decades. Get to root hard against the Oilers so that's something. Awful this guy remains in the league. Reading his statement is disgusting. Always the victim, no responsibility.

Imagine claiming adversity and road blocks as if they weren't his own fault.

Kulak would be awesome, wonder if he’s plan B to Manson. Unless someone’s getting dealt and they are planning a kulak - Manson pairing.

Whatever your opinion of Evander Kane the person is, there is no doubt that is a phenomenal deal for Evander Kane the hockey player.

The guy fit like a glove next to McDavid and will continue to do so.
The person doesn't stop existing. Especially in a locker room full of personalities that are always on the edge of teetering in the wrong direction. Now with Kane in the mix they may last another season before they start begging management to get rid of him like in Winnipeg and San Jose.

I honestly think he'll be fine in Edmonton, their locker room is pretty damn weak. He'll lighten it up and get along with most of the guys, but it'll also make it a party culture that never wins a thing.

Kane only has issues (hockey-wise) when there's actually some strong leadership/locker room presence (Winnipeg and San Jose). He was fine in Buffalo's locker room where a leadership team was non-existent, similar to Edmonton.

We'll see. He's a trash human being who has shown no signs of changing. He was fine in the San Jose locker room until the big playoff runs stopped & the long time vets all left. If they let him near a leadership role Edmonton is done. Can't wait for them to sign Jack Campbell and realize he's a no. 2 that gets hot for a month then falls off. Trash GM and trash player deserve all the failure that's hopefully ahead of them.

This is the reverse. He was normal in San Jose when they had Thornton and Marleau leadership, but once they were gone Kane went bonkers.
