Sincere question. I'm unfamiliar with Laurer's record as a coach. Can you fill me in a bit?
Pond shares some history about how Lauer tanked the Pens pp (with all that talent) and how the lightning pp sucked when he was there too.

I love the Jets for their loyalty and care for people in their organization - but there HAS to be a point where the good of the team usurps that.

The Jets need to get aggressive and hire a pp specialist. I think the pk is good enough, besides a blip they've been better and are heading in the right direction, and Monahan will also help, but the pp is a f***ing nightmare and is killing our momentum

I am concerned.

What a terrible first period. We don't have the horses to win games 5-4.

Just gross. Need to be better, please don't be last season all over again. Please.
I fear it could easily be last season again unless new ood is brought in oh wait they traded the 1dt round pick already...doohhh

We are at 1 for 30. I predict the threshold for PoMo'ing an exit is at 1 for 70.

The more salient question might be - > why did the Jets hire a guy with Lauer's track record?

The results are so poor that TN could at least put someone in at the ST coaching role that will provide entertainment.

- the ex-drummer from Motorhead
- german ex-chancellor Angela Merkel
- Tate McRae
- Ilya Bryzgalov
- Eleanor Wachtel from "writers and company"
- a camel with severe gingivitis

1 for 70?!!??? Ya blaggin great optimist ya!

Round here we use a little formula I call PoMoBogOffChiSq:

Where Q is the period of woeful ineptitude
x amusing anecdotes
x references to hotdog condiments
x baffling statements about Player Y defensive capabilities
/ years of service
/ endorsements from senior management
/ admiring profiles in sports rags
/ number of players glued to top line willing to "go through walls"
/ contract term remaining
/ fear quotient directly impacting replacement hire

Result: 246 games.

Welcome to longterm employment, Mr Lauer.

Every team goes through struggles. Look at LA and Vegas. They have had some really bad runs this year. No team is immune to going through a bad stretch. I still have a lot of faith in this team and I think once we get our scoring punch back we will be fine. To me this team is very structured and plays the type of game that I think will be successful in the playoffs.
I am going to remain optimistic and even with this bad run we are 30-14-5. Who would have guess that back in October? I am going to be at the game tomorrow night and I think we will be come storming out of the gates and hand the Pens a big time loss.

Totally agree, we need to get the first goal of the game, don't care if it goes in off of skate and a ass but we need some confidence scoring again.

Although I turned off the game after the first period last night (Netflix: the Medici series, a bit of history with backstabbing literally and figuratively and some sex. On the whole, more entertaining than the Jets last night.), I'm with you on this. There is still time to turn the ship around. However, that PP! Prior to this morning I did not know of Brad Lauer's coaching history. Someone has got to step in and say enough is enough and tie a can to this guy. (Chevy? Chipman? Please!)

PDO gods are absolutely FURIOUS at the Jets. Bones tempted the hockey gods by breaking up a dominant line... similar to how the hockey gods punished us when a couple of seasons ago Maurice broke up the Connor-Dubois-Svenchnikov 2nd line that was dominating and we were winning after some guys got healthy.

Repent Bones before it is too late!
Yes - you're never going to guess what team has the worst SH% over their last 10 games: the Chicago Blackhawks! But the Jets are the 2nd worst shooting team with a paltry 5.86 SH% at all strengths. SV% is still 4th best in the league, but you gotta score to win, as the Save On Foods family tells us.

Hate to see it, but we may need a “Fire Lauer*” chant going at a home game soon. Maybe that will finally wake up TNSE.

Just for some background, from the beginning of 2021-22 to today, the Jets have played 213 regular season games and have a 9.72 SH%. So currently shooting 3.86 below their mean...to which we will assuredly regress!

9.72% is 21st in the NHL over that time - so not a great finishing team (I think part of the issue there is that the Lowry line gets Top 6 ice time). (NHL all situations SH% range: 11.32 - 8.66; average: 9.97).

I watched until they scored at the beginning of the 2nd. Finished watching until that PP ended.
Horribad.
Should have pulled LB after the 3rd goal but for sure after the 4th.

How did Sammy look at the 2LHD spot?
