While it would not be popular with most Leafs fans if Ottawa offered Ek/Chabot for Austin the Leafs don't even think about it they take the deal in a heartbeat.

Ottawa doesn't trade White alone for Giroux because of Melnyk budget. The rest of the package is nowhere close for Karlsson.

Lots of other good attempts on this threaf, but EK is truly untouchable like McDavid. The best way to get him is for free if he doesn't re-sign.

Yall need to stop. Seriously stop.

The only realistic(meaning the trade could afford to give up) package Ottawa would even slightly entertain is:

Draistail + Pulji + Klefbom/Larsson

if your package doesnt match up with that then take a bow.

I would give up Marner or Nylander + for Karlsson in a heartbeat.

Wouldn't even need to think about it.

We're talking about the best d in the entire league here, who would replace Marner/Nylander's production as a defenseman anyway.

Ottawa obviously would be stupid to trade him though. He's there whole team.

If Ottawa were to trade Karlsson we'd want a 2017 1st, a top 6 centre, a top 4 defenseman and a team's top prospect. Even then we'd have to think about it.

So Jets 1st in 2017 (probably 15th), Little, Myers, & 1 of Connor or Roslovic gets it done?

Take your pick of 4

If Karlsson gets moved, he wont get anywhere near as much as has been mentioned. He wont return a McDavid, Matthews, Marner, Draisaitl, etc. He'll return the most we've seen in a while but not 5-7 very high end assets or a franchise player the ball wont be in their court and you can bet people will find out theyre parting ways and that reduces his value by a ton.

Oh please if he is on the table for any of those guys other than Mcdavid/Matthews and a GM doesnt do it they should be fired.

First of all he doesnt want to leave, this myth that has been spread around by leaf fans mostly is just wishfull thinking.

So yes when he is dealt its for full value because he is a top 3 player in the game.

Which is funny because even if he left there is a 0 percent chance he goes to Toronto. Sens are groomed to hate the leafs, Erik would have his pick of teams and would pick 29 other teams before Toronto.

There is no real value for him, even if he demanded a trade from Ottawa the cost to get him would be through the roof. I think he's too good to realistically be traded without a team decimating their roster and then having the same problem Ottawa has where they rely on him to carry their team. 2 years left, not a big enough window for most teams that want to compete and have the assets to trade for him.

You're both an idiot if you don't make the trade and if you do as the receiving GM to the point everyone would be too afraid to do it

Karlsson probably becomes a more marketable trade piece with only one year remaining because a trade can be worked out where the team acquiring him has a shot to talk an extension with him, and a realistic idea that Karlsson wants to be there long term. It'd have to be similar to the Spezza scenario where Karlsson let's them know a year out he isn't willing to talk about an extension and would accept a trade. (Let's hope it never gets to that).

The difference with Subban was that he was locked down long term at the time he was traded, so whoever acquired him he'd have to play for. That's why the Canadiens were in a rush to move him prior to his NTC kicking in.

If Karlsson walks away from the Sens, it'll be because he wants to go somewhere he thinks he can win, and he's decided Ottawa isn't a team he can win with. So to figure out what team might be a realistic destination you've gotta ask yourself who will be a contender by the 2018 off-season when Karl has 1 year left on his contract that will have a stock pile of assets they can move for Karlsson. Assuming he isn't scared of the cold, maybe Edmonton? Minnesota?

Teams like Toronto and Montreal asking about him are crazy, because there's no way Ottawa would trade arguably the biggest star in the history of their team within the division. What does Ottawa have to get back to justify that from Toronto even if Karlsson is walking as a UFA? Auston Matthews? Teams just don't do stuff like that.

Offers including mid aged guys like Tavares or Giroux are of no interest to me. Trading Karlsson would mean a burn to the ground rebuild so prospects and picks are the assets you'd be looking to trade.

Realistically, the answer is a combination of assets your team wouldn't want to give up.
