They're not fair value. Dallas is not giving up it's only 1C for the long-term in Seguin AND Klingberg AND Nichushkin AND its likely top 10 pick for Karlsson.

Leafs wouldn't trade Matthews for the entire Sens organization.

Matthews and Rielly would not cut it together. There has to be something of very high value, which likely is Kadri and Zaitsev added to them. The team trading for Karlsson holds absolutely no cards in that discussion, which more or less is the nature of trading for a top 5 player.

I am not saying that.

I am saying that if a value of Matthews thread was created, a bunch of Leaf fans would be asking for extreme overpayment. Just like Sens fans are asking for Karlsson.

not disputing the beauty that combo would be, but why on earth would the Oilers give that much up for a player so close to UFA? According to these boards, any player reaching UFA status has zero value beyond that, as they could go anywhere.

McDavid + EK......the points those two wound put up....EK would easily break 100-120, and McDavid would hit a high not seen since the 1980s.

That's way too much to ask for 2 years of Karlsson. But he's entering his prime right now and whoever gets eK in his prime has one of the top 3 players in the league for uears to come.

So right now, straight up it would have to be Matthews and a pick. If EK was guaranteed to resign with TO then it would have to be Matthews and one of the top defensemen of Toronto
