He actually played in Anaheim in pre-season. I had a good laugh when I saw it. Now he's back with us! hahahaDid he even leave town?
What exactly are you on about, that you think he's the bottom pairing in Belleville? It takes longer to develop defenders for the NHL. No point in losing an asset that we've been developing for nothing.Deliberate exclusion of Boucher?
Getting your bottom pairing AHL DMan to the AHL is a genius move? Seems more like a nothing move to me. People lamenting his loss were foolish for many reasons, but there was no genius at play here (nor even the opportunity for it).
He was literally our 3rd pairing RD last year and we added Matinpalo.....What exactly are you on about, that you think he's the bottom pairing in Belleville? It takes longer to develop defenders for the NHL. No point in losing an asset that we've been developing for nothing.

They acquired him to put pressure on the Drysdale camp to come to terms, knowing he would eventually sign, and would let Lassi come home, to BellevilleWaste of time to be honest. He wont ever play in the line-up full-time. The Ducks did not even want him and they are on another tank-a-thon season.
Rather give his spot to High Risk-High Reward then a low-risk, low reward guy.
Matinpalo looked terrible the second he wasn’t playing against AHLers and ECHLers. Not saying he is terrible but I doubt he’s a better AHL d man than lassi right nowHe was literally our 3rd pairing RD last year and we added Matinpalo.....
I'm fine with us reclaiming him, but this is basically just adding AHL depth. Wouldnt be surprised at all if we turn around and trade him for a 6th or something.
Maybe, but even if Matinpalo doesn't play a single game for Belleville Thomson is still their 3RD at best (at least based on how Bell uses & talks about the D down there)Matinpalo looked terrible the second he wasn’t playing against AHLers and ECHLers. Maybe. Right away tho? Maybe not.I’d bet a lot on Mantipalo being the better AHL D
I think he’s better than JBD. But however bell uses them is his business.Maybe, but even if Matinpalo doesn't play a single game for Belleville Thomson is still their 3RD at best (at least based on how Bell uses & talks about the D down there)
I'd be surprised if not right away.Maybe. Right away tho? Maybe not.
When you're right, you're right. My guess is he won't stay in Anaheim, and we reclaim him and send him back to Belleville. Unless of course they are happy to give up on him.
Okay. We’ll see.I'd be surprised if not right away.
This isn't a rookie, this is a 5 year pro, who gets the call for Finland over Thomson internationally.
99% of coaches want the the safer player 99% of the time.Mantipalo doesn't look flashy, but seemed OK and likely less prone to gaffs. This is based on limited viewing.
Thomson has more offensive flash, but is prone to making defensive blunders.
Coaches might prefer the more conservative/safe player which would be Mantipalo imo. Not expecting big things from either though.
Belleville is nicer than San Diego anyway
Let him get used to NA ice. He is a legit pro who just got here.Matinpalo looked terrible the second he wasn’t playing against AHLers and ECHLers. Not saying he is terrible but I doubt he’s a better AHL d man than lassi right now
Yeah I will.Let him get used to NA ice. He is a legit pro who just got here.
Give him time to adjust, get used to teammates, etc...
Yes, pretty much. Exceptions would be players like Karlsson, Makar, Coffey, etc., but there aren't many of those guys.99% of coaches want the the safer player 99% of the time.
Caveat would be a PP specialist
Thomson aint one for sureYes, pretty much. Exceptions would be players like Karlsson, Maker, Coffey, etc., but there aren't many of those guys.
