By the rule, their logic is understandable. But short of banning all blindside hits, there is always going to be this grey area.
Every one of those hits is in there and a simple movement by the player getting hit will change those hits to either rise to supplemental discipline or result in no supplemental discipline.
That to me is just ridiculous.
Like with many aspects of hockey(and all sports), fractions of an inch are at play.
I can very much see with they are saying. I do see the distinction.
Only question to me is, should we allow any contact to the head? I see the Kucherov hit and to me, I think that should be legal. But concussions are such a legit concern nowadays, that I would be willing to agree that no head contact should be allowed.
Only problem is, many hits involve a small level of head contact, and often do not result in concussion.
Fans want to make it seem as though it's an easy call, but I think it is not an easy call at all.
