Congratulations to the Filoso brothers who are new owners of the Smiths Falls Bears. They are only 21 and 23 years old so hopefully they have ambition to make league stronger. Time will tell. I would say late for this season unless there was a good recruiter working all summer already.

Hockey Canada just announced it participants for the Junior Challange 15 players from the CCHL. Congratulations to all players invited. Good luck with your quest to make a team.

This also raises an interesting question. 10 of the 15 players invited are HEO developed players so 67%. This is a huge accomplishment when you consider that the 10 players came from a pool of only 40% of HEO players in the CCHL. One must assume the HEO players are better than the players brought in from out side. Why? Because this is about the third year in a row that HEO developed players out number other invites from the CCHL.

I would also suggest that at selection time if a HEO player and an outside player are equal teams are selecting the none HEO area player, for you guessed it, income not talent.

The only issue I have with your analysis is that what % of CCHL players being American are not eligible for the camp ?

From this discussion board, a reported rumour is that some OJHL teams completed trades after 7 pm on Jan. 10. A possibility is that players moved after this deadline would become free agents. Before the player could sign on with a team, that team would have to have an open card.

There is another rumour from a competing league that hosts a Playdown Cup in Cochrane.
"NOJHL is said to be leading the charge on not allowing anyone who resigns with the clubs who traded for them, post deadline, to participate in this year's Dudley Hewitt Cup. “

This other link might be suggesting some players that might be ineligible.

Nepean getting new coach? Any guess as to who lands that job?

Stay far away from Nepean. For the past few years, they have had horrible coaching, absolutely no development, GM Randy Watt is the one who decides who plays, and have a few really bad billet families. For a team that is rebuilding, they have not improved at all but then again, the kids never come back because of their bad experience.
