Makes sense, JR said there were some good trade-down deals for forwards, just none that improved the defense IIRC.

Seguin is nice and all, but we don't need him. Especially at his Cap hit. Lindholm has a similar ceiling and will cost much less for the next 7 years.

Also, put me in the boat that is fine with Lindholm playing #1 C with Brynas all next year. I have no problem with that. Is preferable over Charlotte and it gives the Canes an extra spot to give Dalpe, Boychuk, Bowman, Welse, Palushaj (sp?) etc. a shot to show they can play a scoring role.

Elias Lindholm expected to sign entry-level contract with Canes today during press conference.

"My, Elias, you have such...elegant hands."

"Uh, many thanks Mr. Rutherford, sir."

"Tell me... what are you doing for dinner tonight?"

jr says he would be "shocked" if 18 year old lindholm didnt make the lineup.

im "shocked" that jr would assume an 18 year old is ready. i know itll be said he has a 9 game tryout to make it, i'll lean to the opinion jr is inking the kid in without touching the ice and that the spot is lindholms to lose - and he will have to truly be awful to lose it.

second verse, same as the previous 32.

Are you talking about JR rushing a prospect, or the number of times since the draft that you've complained about as much?

I'm teasing, but....yeah, you complain about it more often than it is an actual issue.

I dunno, after hearing the same thing about Welsh and Dalpe lately it's starting to feel a little hollow to hear him say those things.

I'm just going to hope Lindholm makes it and leave it at that. JR needs to stop saying things that pump up expectations this way.

thats funny, i thought id kept my mouth shut on lindholm compared to the past. its just common sense that any good prospect is better for being developed slower, and there are few examples of that being the wrong thing to do. crosby and doughty are about the only first year players i thought were truly ready in the last decade or so, and wouldnt have benefitted from another year of development. maybe pat kane. im sure we would quibble over a few more names, but none of them would be canes players.
