Blew my mind too. Maurice directly cost us that point. Hope that at the end it doesn’t cost us anything.

I can't believe all this whining on Hendricks being in the shootout. It's basically a lottery with slightly rigged probabilities depending on who you put out there. Then again in 2009 I watched Jarkko Ruutu score twice against Canada in a shootout in the 2009 world championships and he wasn't exactly a known goal scorer or even shootout specialist. On his 3rd attempt he failed. After that I learnt to respect the coaches choices. Often I don't agree with them, but I also realize my choices might not be any better and could be worse. Also the coaches have a lot of information I don't have access to, sometimes that might make a difference. No one else scored either, so Little, Laine, Wheeler or Perrault weren't any better choices than Hendricks in this particular shootout.

This wasn't even a totally left field choice, his career numbers are still pretty good for shootouts and he's had plenty of attempts. Even if most of the goals happened many years ago, it still shows he's no stranger to shootouts and scoring in them.

For all I know Hendricks told Maurice during OT that if there's going to be a shootout, he has a good feeling he'll score if given the chance. Maybe he said it in a manner that convinced Maurice, who went "OK, this kid has the eye of the tiger, I want him out there." And you know what, if that was the reason he was picked for it, I'd be completely fine with that.

How does Morrissey and Armia not get in the OT both great puck possession guys it really blows my mind.Buff should not be on the ice 3on3.
You mean the guy who basically won the Sharks game in 3 on 3 ?I would like to see Morrissey get some of that 3 on 3 time as well but i think Morrissey was playing hurt after that big hit he took. We almost got through 6 pages on the PGT without anyone complaining about Buff .

This team looks like a real contender now. Even with our best offensive and defensive centers out and missing a key defenseman, we took it to SO where it's basically a coin toss who wins. It was a well deserved point.

The biggest difference between these two teams was easy to spot. One team has practiced 3 on 3 and came out with a gameplan that kept the other team from being able to change lines, and generated 6 shots on goal. The other team got hemmed in their own zone and barely came out alive, generating 0 shots on goal. It's strange that the Jets coaching staff don't seem to value these extra points since they all add up and make a big difference in the end.

I would send a tape of this game to Bettman to show why some games are so hard to watch . The interference and pick plays by the ducks was just a joke , if the refs called half of the crap that the ducks did last night we would have had 5 or6 power plays and this game doesn't even get to OT . Trouba's best game of the season , man Morrissey is tough , the hits he has been able to absorb is just astounding . Glad we at least got a point and with the 10 game home stand coming we are looking pretty damn good .

Some folks seem almost depressed that the Jets are good, undercutting the remarkably popular meme that Chevy and Maurice are morons and Chipman is a cheap owner that is out of his depth.

I am well aware of which posters expressed these opinions in the past and it amuses me to no end to see this season unfold the way it is.

I seem to recall the Oilers getting extremely bad refs in the playoffs last spring in the series with these guys....is that correct?
Great play off feel in this game. The ducks play with an edge so knowing that we will be ready for them in the playoffs.... hope we meet them along the way.

Wow Trouba was a beast today, him and morrissey compliment each other so well. Jets look great, Anaheim plays rough style and try to intimidate, hope we don't face them round one. 3 of 4 points on the west coast is not only how you make the playoffs, but get home ice advantage for a round or two!

It’s either *****ing and moaning about Buff. Or *****ing or moaning about Maurice. Or *****ing and moaning about something....

Or *****ing or moaning about *****ing or moaning.

Actually if this keeps up the rest of the way Maurice may find himself a finalist for coach of the year.

I wouldn't bet the farm on Maurice's chances. Did you see the segment, I think during one of the intermissions, where McKenzie had polled NHL coaches on various awards? For coach of the year, the score was 30-0 for Gallant. I doubt the final award vote is going to be much different.

I didn’t say he would win.
I said finalist.

I was on a flight from the north for the first half of the game and it was 2-2 when I was able to start watching. Helle looked very solid. Great to see Roslovic get his first. You could tell how excited the team was for him. First in the Central going into the all star break is incredible. I love this team.

Definitely.
It’s a shame the stench of toxicity still lingers. The first page of this thread is embarrassing.

3 on 3 is a player safety issue. I’m always glad when we escape OT with no one hurt. Guys are dead tired and selling out repeatedly. We had Trouba out for almost 2:30.

Not entertaining either.

Armia and Morrissey on the shoot out? Of course, this is a great idea. Hell yes.

The Jets' 3 on 3 needs help as been said a gazillion times. My sense is to coach some possession into these boys to deal with the gimmicky 3 on 3. Would be surprised to hear that the Jets practice any 3 on 3? Does anyone actually know this?

My understanding is that they didn't practise (some comments how it is inefficient to have 2 goalies and 6 guys on ice during practise with the rest of the team doing nothing useful).

Might be smart to look at it before next season but personally I wouldn't pay that much attention this season seeing how far in we are.

Unless I'm wrong we are 2-2 on SO, 1-6 on OT and 1-5 on OT that sees 3v3 action.

As I alluded to last game, for a "holding pattern", we seem to be holding our own mighty damn well.
plus Morrissey's being held together with tensor bandages, Kulikov's been out for 2...
things ain't looking so bad.
just hoping Mathias comes back from his injury soon so we can finally take things to THE FINAL LEVEL

and was that one of Trouba's best games in his career? holy smokes, he was amazing
