Ties are lame. And thank god they’re never coming back.
How come? Teams should fight to win to get the extra point, instead of flipping a coin with a shootout. If they are unable to I don’t think they should be awarded a random point. Do you think it’s justified that a TIE (of all things) nets three points to the playing teams, instead of the normal two points? When contending for a playoff position - is it justified to be scared to death of ties?
Edit: Europe with all its socialism got one thing right - football games paradoxically net less points when ending in a tie than wins. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that NHL games net more points with “ties”. It goes against all common sense.
