Bad timing, Zacha working on a 4 point game tonight

I'd say exact opposite. Konecny's injury likely lit a fuse under Zacha because he wasn't there to carry the load especially with them down 2-0. Good for Zacha but that doeasn't deny the fact that Konecny has been leading that team since he came over in the trade...does it??

This could be on to something. Before Konecny came over to the Sting in the trade, Zacha was the only player on the team to have a point-per-game pace.

Now considering this is the Konecny thread, it's just really unfortunate for Konecny to get injured now (There never is a good time to get injured), but I can see how frustrating it is for him. I wonder if this means he'll stay another year in the OHL. He just seems to be almost too good for the OHL at this point.

If he does have a significant rehab to go through this Summer, would Europe be an option for 1 year? He'd be in one of those weird positions where he wouldn't have much to learn in the CHL but probably not ready for the NHL without a Summer of beefing up

People bring this up with Marner all the time. Personally, I don't think the risk is worth the reward. Maybe a league like the Swiss filled with NA coaches could work, but its too easy for a coach not to like him, or have cultural differences that don't make it a great environment. Also, its unclear whether it could be done, as it hasn't been done with a Canadian CHL player (Goldobin, Yakupov and Khokhlachev did), as Hockey Canada has their transfer rights. I'd say keep him up for 9 spread out games (if he has a good camp), send him to the AHL for a conditioning stint, release him to the WJC, then send him back to the OHL for the second half. This approach was used with Braydon Schenn and Alex Pietrangelo.

The Zacha thread is 3 above this, bud.

Pathetic really, the attention that poster gives to Konecny.

Konecny is worth the risk at pick 24. The Devils picked Zacha 6th. There's much more at stake with the Zacha pick, especially since they're arguably better forwards selected after. The Flyers picked Provorov one spot after Zacha. Provorov is safer and probably has much better upside. Like... there aren't really any Flyers fans who're uncomfortable with the risk of picking Konecny since he's the second first round pick for the Flyers and he's picked late in the first. If everything works out, the Flyers will have picked two players after Zacha who're both better players than Zacha!

Provorov is one guy you 100% take over Zacha in a re-draft, same applies to Werenski, Connor and Rantanen. I'd personally take Konecny over him, but its not as clear cut, especially with this injury and medical being rumored for his drop. I wanted Leafs to take him at 24 before we made the move, but I'm fine with the trade.

I dont get it. I've been nothing but complementary of TK in this thread, even going as far to say he reminds me of Parise.
If me pointing out that this is part of the reason why he fell rattles you then idk what to say.

You shouldn't be uncomfortable selecting Konecny, as he is a very good prospect, despite the injury concerns. He's the exact guy you'd hope to get with a late first.

I don't think the Flyers would let him continue to play if he needed surgery after the season.

Sure they would. Playoff experience is better than rest. Especially if the specialist said that it won't get worse by playing with it. Probably gave him a shot for the swelling and pain and sent him back to play. Every year the Flyers have players who look like they're playing injured, then after the season ends they have surgeries. Sure, if playing injured would affect him in the long term they would protect him, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
