Via wants to run a dedicated line from Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal with a few small stops in between maybe a Belleville stop would be possible if so we could get players up here in about 45 minutes.

That would be amazing. Even makes it nicely doable for Ottawa folks to catch a baby Sens game without much hassle.

I just wish we could move our Bingo fans to Belleville. Great group of folks, and we are lucky to have them here. The whole thing is really bittersweet.

Many had speculated that the team would represent Quinte rather than Belleville in order to reach a wider region, but they will in fact be called the Belleville Senators.

$25M approved for upgrades to the Yardmen arena.

Season ticket sales are open as of today.

Cool. $25M approved by the council already? Or to be approved and up for debate?

It's been passed and approved, interestingly there will be no additional cost to taxpayers as the money is coming out of an already existing fund designed for infrastructure upgrades.
Thanks.
I take it you are from Belleville? Curious by your estimation what's the current situation with NHL fans split around town? Sens/Leafs/Habs/others?

Now when my lover and I tour the wineries of Prince Edward Country we can also catch a game in adjacent Belleville. Romantic!

Hopefully you folks over there have some nice roads, water/sewer setup and all that. While I live and breathe hockey, I'd hate to see money that should go to things everyone needs be diverted into luxuries like an arena. That's the one big problem with the political setup in North America....sewers, roads and that stuff isn't a 'sexy' topic for voters like shiny new buildings and luxury items, so they're often ignored by politicians for way too long.

I really hope this works out for Belleville (and Ottawa, of course).

Ironically the fans in Belleville can relate as much as anyone having recently lost our OHL team. Sincerely hope that Bingo is not left without high level hockey for long, if at all.

No kidding. Sad day for the O when the Bulls left. Glad you folks are getting a team again! And if the rumours are true and Bingo will be getting another team sooner than later, that's awesome too. And hopefully Hartford's not out too long, either.

I'm from a nearby town. I would say the area is pretty split between Leafs/Sens/Habs/Wings and other. Toronto fans are definitely the most predominant but a lot of them are of an older generation.

The regional AAA minor hockey association is called the Quinte Red Devils, and the Belleville minor hockey association still maintains the Belleville Bulls moniker. I think that aligning with one of them to adopt the Belleville Senators name could go a long way in helping to create a new generation of Sens fans in Belleville.

The lease was announced as being a minimum of eight years, glad this is more than just a short trial run.

Belleville needs something to draw people back to the city and have a big attraction which the Ahl team will do in return it creates jobs and brings in money via taxes etc that can go to pay for raods and so on.

I've heard a rumor that an "Investment firm" (rumored to be MSG) bought a large property in Binghamton along the re-construction of the highway that intersects I-81, I-88 and Route 17 to build a new large arena. This would be huge of Binghamton. Also rumored Binghamton University will use current arena for a Division 1 hockey team. Albany moving to Wilkes-Barre, Bridgeport moving to Long Island, Wilkes-Barre moving to Johnstown and Hartford moving to Binghamton.

That is pretty funny..... no way ....

I don't believe there are any major concerns in those areas, although our roads aren't the greatest. But...
almost gives me a reason to stop in belleville

This is the reason why a move like this was completely necessary. There is some tourism in the general area with Prince Edward County, but as far as the city of Belleville goes, when the Bulls left there was nothing left to draw tourism. Now we have an AHL team and a new casino being built a couple minutes down the road from the rink. That should draw more tourism dollars than we've ever seen in the city and that money can be put back into infrastructure. Spending money to make money.

Also it makes the city more appealing for people to move to I think this will kick start many new projects in Belleville.

Correct. They have opened a Belleville Senators twitter page and have a new website - www.bellevillesens.com set up to take ticket deposits.

Maybe they can keep the 3D Logo instead of the cartoon guy. Opens the door of redesign up here.

Or they could go with Belleville Legion and do an eagle logo. Maybe just give them the 3D.

40% Leaf fans
25% Habs fans
25% Sens fans
10% Mixed (usually whoever won the cup most recently  )
