The difference between Panarin and Saad can't even be put into words.

The only reason the hawks made the trade is because they can't afford the $2 mil+ more Panarin will make on his next contract. f*** Saad. And f*** win-win. If Panarin re-signs here for 8.5 or under we win this trade hands down.

...y'know, some of us can be happy with a trade without being angry at the other guy.

I have no complaints, he's clearly a incredibly dynamic player, but the goals just aren't going in right now, but he is creating. For as small as he is, it amazes me many times every game how he wins 1 on 1 or worse odds battles along the boards. The article nails it on the head regarding his stick work, I don't know how he gets out of some of the issues he gets into with the puck. I think he's more skilled than Nash at all parts of the game.

Panarin is a God-send to this team. It’s only a matter of time before things start to click.

Wouldn't mind seeing him with Dubois or Jenner, they are the closest to Animisov's skillset and ability to be the one that gets the puck in the corners. As for the Kane on that line....Atkinson, Bjorkstrand, or Milano, while all are no where near Kane's level in anything, they are all shifty enough and fast enough to hang with Bread

How is Panarin doing lately? S% is up a little from a couple of weeks ago but points still seem a bit scarce.

He’s 2nd on the team for CF% behind Dubois. He’s playing fine, just not “producing points” at the moment. If the PP gets its shit together, look for a major spike in points

Edit: ofcourse he pots 3 points tonight and a PP goal

I think, he's doing better than Saad. And yeah, Chicago fans hoped this trade would bring the old Toews back... Still, Toews has more points, than Saad.

From an offensive production standpoint, Artemi is certainly doing better than Saad.

Goals/Game:

Panarin: 0.23
Saad: 0.36

Assists/Game:

Panarin: 0.50
Saad: 0.16

Points/Game:

Panarin: 0.73
Saad: 0.52

Shots/Game:

Panarin: 2.76
Saad: 3.08

——————————

To put into perspective Saad’s ppg numbers... his 0.52 ppg this season would be 7th best on the CBJ behind Panarin, Andy, Werenski. bjorkstrand, Wenny, and Calvert.... yes, Matt Calvert has more points per game this season than Saad (Calvert has played 10 less games than Saad, to be fair).

Especially if you substract that hat-trick Saad made in the 1st season game vs the Pens. The game was an obvious aberration.

It really doesn't matter what Saad does, he was what he was with this team, he wasn't going to give us more than what he did going forward. What he doesn't in Chicago even if he scores 100, he wasn't going to do that here (most likely).

In the offseason many folks believed Saad would outscore Panarin while playing Selke-level defense mostly just because Saad was going to a "better" team, so it IS giving me some satisfaction looking at both individual and team stats. :)

However, I will say that Panarin SHOULD have "buried" that puck on the goal line the other night. That was literally the ONLY type of play or time you'd rather have Saad on the ice over Panarin, because it more than likely would've been banged in.

The overall skill level/offensive ability and most importantly IMO the VISION that Panarin has over Saad is wonderful to have on the team.

Just because.

Thank you Stan Bowman, along with the "demands" of Patrick Kane and Jonathon Toews

To have a guy like this locked up long term for big bucks instead of a Nash or Johansen is/would be a godsend for this team.

There are still Chicago fans, who think, it was a good trade for them...

It seems like it is. They have alot of young pieces and Saad is signed for 2 more years longer than Panarin. They likely wouldn't have been able to afford him in 2 years, and it gives their young guns time to develop and use cap money to fill their holes without worrying about saving money for another 3 years after this. Brandon Saad isn't why that team is only fighting for a playoff spot. They have no depth, and their defense isn't what it used to be. That would be the same even if they kept Panarin.

*Before people get mad. It seems to be good for us too. Trades are allowed to be win/win.*
