Well, he's on with Blake and Sekeres right now, and it sounds like he wants to sign a contract with the Canucks. Any insecurities of him signing with someone else should be put to rest, I think.

Can you elaborate on what hr said but maybe more imoortantly is how he said it..

So he wants to "start his career there".

Sounds like he just wants to get his pro career started in order to get his elc going, before he asks for a trade outta Van. He'll pretty much get to go where he wants, and doesn't have to wait another year. We'll never get full value for him, as he will get the rookie treatment from the coaching staff... I'm as concerned as ever

This is another possibility. This way he gets paid now without waiting and still gets to play closer to home eventually.

Well the Canucks are hurting for centre depth and scoring,
and Gaudette ('The Gaudfather") is almost exactly 2 years
older than our other top C prospect Pettersson. So there's
a real possibility of an NHL centre job being available even
as early as next season, or else whenever Henrik retires. The
talent roster at the position is Horvat, Henrik, Sutter, and
Dowd. Absent Henrik, it's Horvat, Sutter, and Dowd, which
would not excite the turned-off fans too much. The current
call-ups are pretty much warm spit. So a strong, aggressive
22-year-old rookie with talent might not have all that long
to wait, especially considering the team's injury record and
fan alienation. Pettersson seems destined to be the Henrik
replacement eventually, but Gaudette is probably more
NHL-ready right now due to his two more years of strength
training on a much less etiolate frame. Also he could play
a wing position if need be, the need being to get the Canucks
younger, faster, more skilled, and harder to play against
than they are right now.

Having an NHL playing spot available in the reasonable
future is one of the strong points for attracting Gaudette.
The other is the age-peer guys he'd be dishing to for the
next decade: Boeser, Pettersson, Dahlen, Lind, Gadjovich,
and greybeards like Horvat and Baertschi. Dowd, Gaunce,
and MacEwen wouldn't make such bad teammates either.
Add Sutter and that's a top 12 with a decent mix of talent,
size, and character to play with, with quality newcomers
being added until the team goes habitually deep into the
playoffs.

Nice post. I see Gaudette becoming a Scheifele type centerman which would be like hitting a jackpot.

So Gaudette is now the leading scorer in the NCAA and in consideration for the Hobey Baker.....Pettersson is lighting up the SHL with numbers not seen since the Peter Forsberg era......Lind might be best pure goalscorer in the WHL at the moment; Tryamkin is a KHL all-star d-man and likely headed for the Olympics; and Demko is a legit all-star goalie in the AHL.

I realize that some posters on these boards are like Charlie Brown, waiting for the football to be whipped away just as they're about to boot it....but come-on.....these kids are as close to 'sure-things' to play in the NHL as you can get.....and been many, many years since you could say that about the Canuck prospect pool.
