We need a two-way center with great defense, the ability to play offense, use his partners even under pressure, and he should also win subocees. Which one is that?
LC? Pretty well rounded kid IMO.We need a two-way center with great defense, the ability to play offense, use his partners even under pressure, and he should also win subocees. Which one is that?
That’s where I struggle .. Carlsson has never really been a goal scorer , I know it’s different competition , but he’s not overly fast , and his shot is below average .. good hands , but lacks power on his shotTo me, Smith has by far the higher ceiling. If Smith hits you are talking about a 100+ point player that can carry a line and hold possession almost single-handedly, I think he is in the same vein as Pavel Datsyuk potentially (although without that level of Defense). Carlsson is going to max out I would bet in the 80s as a point producer most likely however he has the potential to do that while shutting down the other team's top line. I do think he will be reliant on finishers and will require skilled linemates to make it to that level of point production though.
I don't think Voronkov affects that decision any more than I think having Jenner still around affects it.Could be .. but at the same point they have Voronkov coming over as well . He could be a #3 center that can play up if needed .. similar to what Lundell is doing for Florida right now
Voronkov .. in all seriousness who knows . Seems 50/50 that Carlsson is a center in the NHL. Seems like Carlsson is in the mold of Sillinger down the road , but a bit bigger .We need a two-way center with great defense, the ability to play offense, use his partners even under pressure, and he should also win subocees. Which one is that?
Can he do it under pressure?LC? Pretty well rounded kid IMO.
I would say between Voronkov, who produced at a higher level than Marchenko did this past season in KHL, and Sillinger who is supposed to be a center , that Carlsson would be 3 pretty slow centers down the middleI don't think Voronkov affects that decision any more than I think having Jenner still around affects it.
Dima hasn't been a full center in the KHL, we'll see.Voronkov .. in all seriousness who knows . Seems 50/50 that Carlsson is a center in the NHL. Seems like Carlsson is in the mold of Sillinger down the road , but a bit bigger .
No. Dubois was ranked higher and there were teams that had him over Pool Party. Dubois wasn’t really a reach. Can he do it under pressure?
Jarmo is unpredictable. Dubois was projected around the 13-15 spot if I remember correctly. That's why, although I doubt it, I wouldn't be surprised if we start someone of Moore/Yager/Leonard/Dvorský/Benson.
You're slightly off. Dubois was projected around the 4-6 spot. Can he do it under pressure?

Just for the record come draft day, who do YOU think that is?I'm thinking our 10 year veteran GM will take the worst name on the board....
Except you know... Carlsson isnt like Sillinger at all and his skating isnt as bad as you seem to think it isVoronkov .. in all seriousness who knows . Seems 50/50 that Carlsson is a center in the NHL. Seems like Carlsson is in the mold of Sillinger down the road , but a bit bigger .
If indeed fact this in itself should drive everyone from ownership down to correct it.gotta give major credit and props to @Viqsi for continously saying that there was no way the jackets would get 1st OA, and she was right.
most disrespected franchise in the entire league? yup.. you guessed it, us.
If we go by odds Anaheim was 12% more disrespectedgotta give major credit and props to @Viqsi for continously saying that there was no way the jackets would get 1st OA, and she was right.

And big. And not going to wander off to New York like some Russians. Thats why its him or Smith for CBJ. This will be a great draft year, it just seems less because Bedard is in Chicago.LC? Pretty well rounded kid IMO.
We don't need a pure goal scorer. Our chances at getting a dominant goal scoring playmaker went out the window when we were hopped by Chicago. We need size and a capable center who can not only distribute the puck offensively to his skilled wingers(which we have in spades) but who can make big plays in the defensive zone as well. That’s where I struggle .. Carlsson has never really been a goal scorer , I know it’s different competition , but he’s not overly fast , and his shot is below average .. good hands , but lacks power on his shot
Goodness, that list is a wild ride all over the map.#3 picks from the past 32 years. One current and quite a few former Jacket studs in that mix.

Plus we have goal scorers on the wings. Gaudreau and Johnson are also dual threats and can easily be in the 25-30ish goal range on top on the playmaking. The fact Carlsson has such 2 way upside and the ability to play the game a different way is huge.We don't need a pure goal scorer. Our chances at getting a dominant goal scoring playmaker went out the window when we were hopped by Chicago. They've said their drafting (hopefully) a true 1 C and you've got him slotted as a third line winger. I'm not thinking that'll happen. We don't need a pure goal scorer.
